Scientific Analysis And Creative Practice Of Lucid Dream

As a kind of mixed dream which was named by a Dutch psychiatrist,lucid dream is a kind of dream that a person can realize he is dreaming when being in it.It is almost a synonym for "fantasy".The special operation and training for lucid dream are greatly analogous to the preparation period of an artist.Some familiar features of the two have aroused my curiosity in studying lucid dreams from the artistic angle.The question is that how lucid dreams be applied by artists as they have been acknowledged and studied scientifically.Besides its identity as a kind of dream,lucid dreams obviously can provide artists with more ideas.However,a more specific path of practice which is associated with art creation for artists rather than scientists or doctors is needed.It is necessary for artists to face the question of how one relates his art with lucid dreams and what measures should be taken to prevent lucid dreams from generalization,to lay regulations on and to end,etc.This dissertation was inspired by the author’ s experience of lucid dream by chance,with the unforeseen but marvelous content that has been leading the author to dig deeper,aiming to enter a lucid dream again.When the frequency has been steady for re-entrance,the author began to associate lucid dreams with his major,which directly led to this dissertation.The author first gives a basic idea of lucid dreams and the scientific ways to prove it,and then the categories of lucid dreams and different trainings in order to enter them.Besides which the application and work of lucid dreams by artists,native or foreign are listed.Steady resources of creative ideas have occurred under the use of lucid dreams.Instead of flashing pieces,ideas are stored in one’s mind for him to use whenever he wishes to.There is even the possibility of controlling lucid dreams freely after training in order to step beyond the limitation that reality has set for art creation.Thus the eyesight and ideas are broadened;more satisfying art work is created.And then the author puts the 5-year experience of practice on studying lucid dreams together with the theories.From his down-to-earth experience of creating art,the author studies his own works which are inspired through the study of lucid dreams and reaches the measure of combining lucid dreams with art creation.Lucid dreams can be steady and frequent under the measure of science,and can provide necessary ideas to create an art for a person easily to get.The limitation of lucid dream and people’s proper attitude towards it are also acknowledged.
