| Note taking is a generally used learning strategy to improve students’ learning efficiency and academic achievement.However,its quality which can directly reflect students’ use of it has not been given adequate attention by teachers and students.In other words,although teachers and students are simply aware of a fact that,the note taking quality of students with high achievement can be better than it of students with low achievement,few teachers pay adequate attention to study on what kind of note taking is qualified,scientific and effective to promote students’ learning efficiency and academic achievement.This study mainly adopts text analysis to evaluate students’ written notes taken in class in English textbook and after class in English notebook,so as to explore the predictive effect of English note taking quality on English achievement,as well as the significant differences in English note taking quality between high and low English achievers.Combined with results of questionnaire,to deeply analyze reasons for the significant differences between the two groups of students.This study proves that:(1)The quality of note taking in English has significant predictive effect on English achievement,and the note taking quality in English notebook has better predictive effect on English achievement than it in English textbook.(2)In in-class learning process,the integrity,uniqueness,selectivity andformat of note taking in English textbook can lead to different levels of English achievement.And note taking format has the highest predictive effect on English achievement,followed by note taking selectivity,uniqueness and integrity.(3)In after-class learning process,all of the integrity,uniqueness,neatness,selectivity and format of note taking in English notebook can lead to different levels of English achievement.And note taking integrity has the highest predictive effect on English achievement,followed by note taking format,uniqueness,selectivity and neatness. |
