| As a productive technique,writing can better reflect students’ comprehensive language skills.However,it is still hard to achieve the desired result in English writing teaching.Students often make logical mistakes and they tend to make grammatical and lexical mistakes under the influence of their mother tongue.On the other hand,it is pretty difficult for them to use cohesive words appropriately.In order to solve these problems,scholars at home and abroad applied the theory of lexical chunks to improve the teaching of English writing.Nevertheless,they seldom combined the theory of lexical chunks with English writing teaching in junior middle school.Lexical chunks possess both lexical and grammatical features.And it is called the semi-finished product of language,so the application of lexical chunks to English writing can enrich students’ expressions,improve the accuracy of their compositions.Some studies even suggested that it can improve students’ English writing proficiency.This paper intends to apply the theory of lexical chunks to see if it can improve the quality of English writing teaching in junior middle school and it answered the following question:Will the application of the theory of lexical chunks help improve students’ English writing ability? And it will be assessed from the following aspects:vocabulary,grammar,cohesion and content.This study used questionnaire,teaching experiment and interview to explore the effect of the research.During the research,the new model of writing teaching was created by applying the theory of lexical chunks in controlled class,while the teaching model in uncontrolled class was conventional process approach.The research lasted more than two months.The data of tests and questionnaires were analyzed by SPSS25.0.The result showed that the application of the theory of lexical chunks can help improve students’ English wiring ability,especially in the vocabulary,cohesion and content.Finally based on the result,the author puts forward some suggestions for applying lexical chunks in English writing teaching at middle junior school. |
