Research On The Salt Industry Organizations And Folk Beliefs In Modern Zigong

In modern times,Zigong large-scale salt-making enterprises rose.Their business involves all aspects of salt production,transportation and marketing.And they operate in the form of family enterprises,promote the cohesion of their families through ancestry worship in belief system,and protect their public property,so as to achieve local respectability.At the same time,as the scale of salt production expands,the division of labor is more and more elaborate.According to the types of work,labor organizations are formed among workers.They strive for their own rights and interests by the power of organization.These labor organizations have their own industry god faith.They complete their identity by the god,and swear their existence to the community through temple architectures and large-scale worship activities.Therefore,the modern Zigong salt industry organization refers to the modern Zigong folk salt industry organization,including the family business and the labor organization of salt industry,namely the main producers and operators of Zigong salt industry.Folk belief in salt industry refers to the main belief of salt family business and labor organization,that is,ancestor worship belief and industry God belief.Folk beliefs are complex,and traditional Chinese people may have many kinds of beliefs.The reason why the author chooses these two kinds of beliefs as the main beliefs of salt industry organizations is that the belief of an organization is determined by the purpose and nature of this organization,not by individual.That is to say,an individual can have many various beliefs,but an organization,which is composed of individuals,chooses its "official belief" on account of the purpose and nature of this organization.Because of the homogeneity of salt family business and the large amount of documents and materials of Wang Sanwei Tang,this paper takes Wang Sanwei Tang as an example to discuss the ancestor worship belief of salt family business,including the impacts of ancestral worship belief on the internal unity,asset allocation and social network construction of salt family enterprises through the ceremony of mourning in Sanwei Tang,the attempts of salt family enterprises to transform their ancestral spirits into regional gods to build a higher social reputation through the legend of the reincarnation of ancestral soul,and the influence of ancestral worship on family consciousness through the seeking-root activities of descendants of the Wang family.On the other hand,the author also analyzes the influence of family social and economic status on belief activities.Through the analysis of the relationship between Wang Sanwei Tang and ancestor worship,this chapter clarifies the relationship between salt family business and ancestor worship.The purpose,organization form and operation mode of labor organization in modern Zigong are homogeneous.Yan Emperor Association is the most developed labor organization in modern Zigong.Compared with other labor organizations,Yan Emperor Association has a higher social and economic status.This paper takes Yan Emperor Association as an example to discuss the industry God belief of labor organization in salt industry,and explore the performance and function of belief of Yan Emperor in Yan Emperor Association,and how Yan Emperor Association uses the belief of Emperor to obtain cultural capital.On the other hand,this paper analyzes the assembly’s statue in the workers,the relationship between the Association,local businessmen and the government,and in the strike movement,the reason why the belief of Yan Emperor has been preserved,while the industry god beliefs of other labor organizations are banned.Through the analysis of the integrative function of the belief of Yan Emperor,this paper expounds the cohesive effect of industry God belief on labor organization;and this paper expounds the reaction of labor organization’s social and economic status on belief activities through the analysis of social and economic status of Yan Emperor Association.The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between the modern Zigong salt industry organization and the folk belief from the theoretical research level,and further explore the Zigong well salt culture.According to the research content and field survey results,this paper puts forward three suggestions on "Zigong well salt culture construction" : First,attach importance to developing the city spirit shaped by salt,specifically,attach importance to the spirit of salt merchants and salt workers.Second,the government takes the lead to advocate the integration of salt landscape protection into the community,so that local people become participants and beneficiaries of landscape protection.Thirdly,pay attention to the protection and development of salt landscape along the Fuxi River.
