Research On Wang Zengqi’s New Strange Tales Of Liao Zhai

New Strange Tales of Liao Zhai includes thirteen novels,refers to Wang Zengqi’s rewriting of Strange Tales of Liao Zhai from 1987 to 1991.Rewritten novels are completely new in content and form,showing new values and humanistic ideas.According to the characteristics of the topic and the needs of the theme,this paper mainly studies the rewriting of Strange Tales of Liao Zhai by means of close reading and comparison.First of all,this paper discusses the content of the text,which involves plot,character image and theme.Comparing the content of the original work with the new one,analyze the variation of the plot,the increase and decrease of the characters,the change of the strength and the choice of the emotion and the officialdom,it can be seen that Wang Zengqi writing New Strange Tales of Liao Zhai is serious,contains a seemingly plain but actually rich ideological and cultural connotation-it is the pursuit of all rewriters to give the original work new meaning,and it is Wang Zengqi’s create consciously.Secondly,it expounds the artistic characteristics of New Strange Tales of Liao Zhai,mainly from two aspects of language and structure: Wang Zengqi raised the language to the ontological position,rewritten the original work with refined vernacular,followed the consistent “randomness”of Wang Zengqi’s novels in structure,specifically expressed as lyricism and empty space.Finally,this paper,from the complex of Strange Story of Liao Zhai of him and the literary ideal of warming the world with his words,analyzes the rewriting motivation.The conclusion part is the evaluation of the meaning of New Strange Story of Liao Zhai.Wang Zengqi as modern writer rewrites classical novels which is based on the original works.Between the two works,there is a vast space,including the spirit of the times,the use of language,literary ideas,the pursuit of writers,and rich academic and cultural connotations and so on.It is of great significance to study the New Strange Story of Liao Zhai and the intertextual relationship between the two texts,no matter to know Wang Zengqi or to explore his novel creation.
