Influenced by examination-oriented education,many junior high school English teachers and students in rural areas in China pay little attention to oral English learning and only regard English as a subject that students can get scores in the examination resulting in poor oral English.By creating real language environment and providing students with various forms of task activities,Task-based Language Teaching(here in after referred to as TBLT)encourages students to participate in class activities actively so as to improve students’ oral English ability.Based on the Second Language Acquisition Theory and Communicative Teaching Theory,this paper studies the application of TBLT to junior high school education and teaching.The purpose of this study is to apply TBLT to rural junior high school oral English teaching,and to study and find out the influence of TBLT on students’ oral English learning and English learning.In this study,by experiment the students of a junior high school in Bengbu Rural,Anhui Province was token as the study subjects and adopted questionnaire and test observation and interview to analyze the data qualitatively and quantitatively.The research found that:(1)Compared with the traditional teaching method,TBLT emphasizes " learning is in the process of using",which is helpful to improve students’ oral ability to a certain extent.(2)Compared with the English learning situation of the students in the control class,the students in the experimental class participated in the activities more actively in TBLT oral English class,the students’ English learning interest was stronger and the students’ achievement of oral English was more obvious.The research holds that the study of oral English teaching for students in rural areas has a certain reference and enlightenment for teachers’ teaching.
