With the rapid advancement of the global economy,the economic ties between countries are becoming closer and the test of the ability of governments and financial systems to cope with economic recessions and even financial crises is more severe than before.Many authoritative institutions issue financial reports to conduct international exchanges on important issues in the economic field.Therefore,the translation of financial reports is of great significance to the steady development of global finance and international financial activities in the context of economic globalization.This paper takes a financial report of Congress Research Service as the research object in an attempt to explore strategies in translating the financial report into Chinese.The source text contains a large number of financial technical terms and long and difficult sentences which embody the objectivity and professionalism of financial reports.These sentences also have the corresponding research significance and translation practice value.In the meantime,under the guidance of Adaptation Theory and according to the characteristics of financial reports in terms of vocabulary,syntax and discourse,the paper applies inversion,conversion,amplification and sentence division to translate the source text.The purpose of this paper is to explore how to translate financial reports accurately,and to convey the information transmission of the original text by means of expressions consistent with the reading habits of the target readers,so as to facilitate the academic exchange of international financial reports.This translation practice aims to provide ideas for the translation of such texts and to offer some useful enlightenment and value reference to the translation of similar financial reports in the future. |
