| Feng Zikai is a famous contemporary painter,litterateur,translator,educator and calligrapher in China,who had made remarkable achievements in many fields.Previous research on Feng Zikai are mainly on his painting,literature,education and aesthetic thought,while the discussion on Feng Zikai’s calligraphy is relatively rare.Throughout Feng Zikai’s art practice,calligraphy and painting are in a state of two-way progress.Feng started practicing calligraphy from childhood,thus his achievements on painting are closely related to calligraphy and two skills supplement each other.His calligraphy style is unique,which forms a trend of integration and mutual promotion together with painting in his whole life.This paper,firstly,discusses Feng Zikai calligraphy’s formation and development phases through presenting the origin of his calligraphy,his several key stages,his teachers and friends and the influence of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism on him.Then,Feng Zikai’s calligraphy art forms are presented and classified,with his calligraphy works are divided into three categories: calligraphy creation,painting postscript and practical creation.It not only embodies the independent artistic value of his calligraphy,but also plays an important role in the picture as a preface and postscript,as well as practical and artistic letters.Next,the paper analyzes the artistic characteristics and aesthetic characteristics of Feng Zikai’s calligraphy,and discusses the artistic characteristics of calligraphy from the four aspects of pen use,ink use,structure and composition.The aesthetic characteristics of Feng Zikai’s calligraphy is also discussed,from the four aspects of pure beauty,natural beauty,harmony beauty and quiet beauty.In the last chapter,according to Feng Zikai’s calligraphy practice and art theory works,Feng Zikai’s four points of calligraphy view are summed up.In addition,in the modern history of China,Feng Zikai performs excellent in both literary and artistic,his achievements in calligraphy are inseparable from his own cultivation and knowledge,which also has profound enlightenment for the current practice of calligraphers and painters. |
