The contemporary figurative painting styles are quite different, covering a wide range of subject matter, and there are no clear rules for creative methods. As one of the types of painting, creators and viewers perceive figurative painting through their eyes. Therefore, the characteristics of a series of activities when visual perception perceives figurative painting works are of great reference value for creation.Visual perception is a process of perception that has a similar function to thinking.Visual perception can actively grasp objective objects, and it has certain rules. Its rationality of selectivity and integrity can allow perception to actively grasp the essential characteristics of objective objects. In figurative painting,it is necessary to provide an image with the essential characteristics of things for visual perception,so that the expressive power from painting can be felt intuitively in the process of perception.Above this purpose, this article proposes the formation steps and principles to follow in the form of creation.Based on the steps in painting creation,it explores the selection of specific images in figurative painting, and the constituent elements in figurative painting——points, lines, faces and colors——the magnitude and direction of the internal force, and further compose the picture based on the principle of balance,so that its structural characteristics are consistent with the image in the picture and have a clear expression. Finally, the author of the thesis guided his creation with the new picture construction method described in the article, and constructed a figurative painting form suitable for expressing the painting idea of the author.
