| The forms of activity and tranquility exist very universally in both of Chinese and foreign painting-works, and they become an angle of exploration and realization the life's exist-appearance for ancient and contemporary, Chinese and foreign artists. The existence of the relationship between activity and tranquility is practically very detailed: the loose and tight composition, the movement of pen and ink, the construction of the feeling of space, the expression of form and spirit etc… all of these can be comprehended in the angle of activity and tranquility. This written-work will mainly work on comparative researches of the Chinese traditional painting and the western modern painting and use the point of activity and tranquility as the centre to get into the painting field, and penetrate into the studies and exploration of painting's bearing; it investigates the common regulation within the centre in Chinese and foreign paintings, thus to realize and grasp the eternal truth of art and achieve the objective which guide painting artistic creation and practice. The activity and tranquility in the painting include two levels' meaning which from the form to the spirit. This written-work draws support from the theories of 'Visual Perception' of the western modern art psychology to do the auxiliary research about the form of activity and tranquility in the painting. Through doing the comparison between the related conception in 'Visual Perception' and the point of view of activity and tranquility in the Chinese traditional painting, such as perceptive strength and 'trend', perceptive strength field and 'dense mist', tranquility and 'activity-balance'… It can be discovered: The relation of opposites and unity between activity and tranquility constitutes one of the most basic form-language——the activity and balance of perceptive strength.Substantially, exploring the point of activity and tranquility is researching the form of life's appearance. The construction of perceptive strength should present a sort of life spirit appearance for us. The pursuit of spirit in the Chinese traditional painting promotes the value of existence of painting's appearance, also excavates the spirit direction of activity and tranquility in the deeper angle. The description of spirit in the painting should include two levels below: the description of object's life appearance and the extensive mood of artists leading to universe. Only their unity comprehensively functions to construct the complete art life, truly transmits the soul of the painting-works.The realization of activity and tranquility is on the base of 'abstract truth'. The 'abstract truth' oversteps the visible form, reflects the charming of the thing and the regulation, and becomes 'higher truth'. The truth abstracts the inner characteristic and deeper construction. The music and dance in painting is exactly the expression of the rhythm of the universe. Usually, to realize the 'abstract truth', to realize the complete expression from appearance to spirit, its path is by art thinks.The regularities of activity and tranquility, which in the Chinese traditional painting and the western modern painting, provides a new method of observation, a way of comprehending and appreciating the painting, and a train of thought of art-works' creation. It also has very important significance on both of creational academic learning and explorative teaching. |
