Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, administrated by Hubei Province,is the only autonomous prefecture for minority ethnic group settlement in Hubei Province.Compared with other cities in Hubei province,Enshi has a relatively slow economic growth rate. For the several past of years, with rapid development of feature agriculture(a new agricultural models with characteristics)and the tertiary industry,Enshi’s economy has enjoyed a substantial improvement lately.Meanwhile,an increasing number of overseas cities have established twin city partnerships with Enshi, attracting more foreigners year on year to visit and invest there. Therefore,on January 23,2019,an Irish delegation led by the mayor of Galway City has paid a visit to Enshi Autonomous Prefecture.During the visit, the two parties exchanged views and looked for practical cooperation.Upon fruitful negotiation,on January 25,2019,Enshi and Galway finally signed the MOU.The author acted as an interpreter at the symposium, and accomplished the interpreting project by consecutive interpreting and liaison interpreting. This report, based on the interpreting practice, gives a description of the interpreting background and process, elaborating case analysis based on Interpretative Theory with four solutions. The solutions can be concluded into strategies as—generalization and adaptation, substitution of expressions, adopting a maxim of delivering the core structure, and literal translation.Through this practice, the author realizes that endless accumulation of common sense, targeted preparation, good psychological and physical qualities as well as language habits are essential for a qualified interpreter. The author hopes that this report will provide helpful reference to student interpreters in terms of interpreting practice.
