Discussion On Life Awareness In Peng Xue Jun’s Children’s Novels

Peng Xuejun,a Xiangxi children’s writer,stepped in the literary arena with the prose Embracing Mother in the late 1980 s.During her 30-year writing career,Peng Xuejun created a series of high-quality children’s novels.Through pouring her understandings and explorations of life into novels,Peng Xuejun shows her unique life awareness in an artistic way and constructs a life world full of individual colors.Adopting an approach of close reading,this paper analyzes the main contents of the life awareness in Peng Xuejun’s novels in detail,deeply explores the means of artistic expression used by Peng Xuejun while expressing life awareness and discusses the causes and value of his life awareness.This paper is divided into Introduction,three chapters of main body and conclusion.The part of Introduction mainly defines the concept of life awareness,sets forth the causes of the topic selection,analyzes the research status and significance of life awareness in Peng Xuejun’s children’s novels.The first chapter interprets the main contents of the life awareness in Peng Xuejun’s children’s novels.This chapter is divided into pathetic life mood,open-minded life wisdom and vigorous and independent life spirit.Pathetic life mood permeates the writing of loneliness and separation by Peng Xuejun.She laments the hardship of individual growth and advocates a responsible mind towards the sufferings in life.Open-minded life wisdom is mainly reflected in the depiction of death by Peng Xuejun.She highlights the destiny of death and digs the eternity of life from the destiny of death,which shows her open-minded view of life and death.Moreover,Peng Xuejun also emphasizes the vigorous and independent life spirit which mainly reflects the persistent pursuit of “beauty” and positive pains.The second chapter analyzes the artistic forms adopted by her novels to express life awareness from the aspects of language,image and space.Peng Xuejun relates the sorrow and joy of life with poetic language and elegant characters and sings the love song of life in dialect.Images mainly include cultural images and color images;cultural images are full of classical colors and life spirituality,and color images outline many life pictures vividly.The usage of space presents life awareness in a three-dimensional way;the space of homeland shows vigor and wildness of life individuals and the urban space presents the hardships and setbacks encountered by children in the process of growth.The third chapter discusses the causes of Peng Xuejun’s life awareness and the value of life awareness in her children’s novels.Childhood experience and Xiangxi culture deeply influence Peng Xuejun’s life awareness.The life awareness in novels adds the life depth in contemporary Chinese children’s literature and enriches the cultural connotation of children’s literature.The conclusion simply concludes the life awareness in Peng Xuejun’s children’s novels and narrates the important significance of her life awareness.
