Research On The Ritual Process And Significance Of Contemporary Villages

Rituals play an important role in social life.Predecessors have paid more attention to research rituals itself.When choosing field investigation sites,they also tend to choose areas with better cultural authenticity preservation.They have paid less attention to the interaction process of rituals with traditional,marginal or different cultural societies and groups,and between ritual experts,people,ritual behaviors and contemporary life.This paper takes Ming village,Dazu District,Chongqing,which is a cultural complex,as the field site,and takes the ritual expert of the village,Daoshi and the funeral ritual,the an’dian ritual and the evocation ritual as the research object.By using the field survey method,through the behavior of the ritual experts and the participation of the people,the author analyzes the people’s outlook on life,morality and the world behind the ritual;Its function in family and society,the role of ritual experts and people in cultural rituals and cultural communication,and the significance and value of rituals in contemporary rural areas.Specific in terms of significance and social function,the funeral ritual enables the dead to reach the other world through releasing the ghost,and more importantly,it provides a reasonable place for the dead,so as to avoid troubles for the living and villages caused by wandering.The evocation ritual is to connect the occasional problems of individuals with their ideas or beliefs,and the daoahi use the ritual to resolve various risks in the real world.The an’dian ritual puts madness in the local history and cultural tradition,links people’s spiritual problems with ethics,and resolves personal crisis through ritual.In these three rituals,the ritual experts have been recognized by the villagers for their special learning experience,the role of spokesperson of sacred power,the spiritual power and manipulation of ritual language and ritual instruments,etc.In the process of ceremony,ritual experts and the people together promote the combination of ceremony and social change,so as to realize the interaction and adjustment between ritual,cultural heritage and social change.Ritual is not only a simple microphone of traditional cultural concepts,nor just living in traditional or "authenticity" areas.In the contemporary risk society,the family and society are facing more accidents.As an important cultural means of combining the traditional and modern society,the ritual still plays an important role in meeting people’s psychological needs,the spiritual identity of villages,and the orderly operation of society.Among them,the active role of ritual experts and the public in the ritual is the key force of ritual and cultural heritage,which promotes the combination of traditional concepts and modern social needs.The traditional cultural concepts contained in the ceremony and the part of its modern transformation will be the important spiritual support and cultural resources of the countryside in the future.The situation of ritual experts,their social roles and their role in the modern transformation and adjustment of traditional concepts and values deserve further study.
