A Research On Incantatory Practitioners Of Oaugyal Tsopa And Its Ritual Performance

On the one hand,oaugyal tribe tantric community is a religious organization of Tibetan Buddhism sect,Nangma,which consist of both monks and nhipa.It plays a significant role in maintaining tribe(tsopa)order and protecting people and homeland from enemies through various Tibetan Buddhism tantric rituals and practices such as chanting scriptures,performing curse rites.On the other hand,oaugyal tribe tantric community is tribe organization and part of management members are lay man from oaugyal tribe.Therefore,all of important things in tribe were discussed and solved through elder’s negotiations at different seasonal religious activities with a guidance of Lama to re ach a normal social order.Even though oaugyal tribe is under administration areas governance of government now,but oaugyal tribe tantric community is still functional in social stability and development of oaugyal tribe in different ways.This paper anal yzes the external and internal structure of oaugyal tribe tantric community,classification of various religious rituals and influence on oaugyal tribe.This is paper includes four parts: firstly,a brief history of oaugyal tribe tantric community which contains certain rules,generations of nhipa and seasonal religious events.It also explores the social nature of oaugyal tribe tantric community/oaugyal organization,which are the most popular religious rituals and when the ideas and practices get started in oaugyal.In the second part,It argues origin of those witchcraft,classification and purpose of it and compares its scopes and definition of witchcraft in different cultural context.It also explains some misunderstandings on witchcraft.In Tibetan context,witchcraft is a way to communicate with other beings who are beyond this world that popular in both Buddhism and Bon religion.The third part is focus on the ritual practitioners.Especially where it begins,secret tools are used in rituals and social position of them.In the fourth part,it talks about social function of oaugyal tribe’s witchcraft such as social stability,psychological comfort.As research results,firstly,this paper argues that oaugyal shkis mg is tribe organization which consists of monks and lay people.The followers believe in Buddhism nangma sect.Secondly,classification of religious rituals.Rituals can be interpreted as way to interact with supernatural beings through various religious rites in this contexts.Finally,witchcraft rituals is a popular cultural phenomenon around world which is a window to view natural world and unknown world and it still has social function in Tibetan tribe structure such oaugyal.
