Research On The San Yan Er Pai Matchmaker Group From The Perspective Of Citizen Culture

Feng Menglong and Ling Mengchu wrote the novel San Yan Er Pai.As a representative work of the late Ming Dynasty citizen literature,it consciously portrayed the most versatile "matchmaker" group,reflecting the profound and comprehensive cultural content of the citizen,and it has achieved important literary achievements.In view of this,this thesis intends to be from the perspective of citizen culture and the level of literature.Carefully summarizing the research on the matchmaker culture since the twentieth century and at the same time,I will carry out specific in-depth discussion about the type and characteristics of the San Yan Er Pai matchmaker group image,the artistic achievements of the matchmaker image shaping and the method,the ideological understanding value embodied by the author and the author’s matchmaker marriage and custom concept,and draw my own conclusions.The main structural contents and basic views of the thesis are as follows:On the basis of the synthesis of the ancient and modern,the "Introduction" defines the concept of "matchmaker",expounds the basis of the "citizen culture" perspective and the significance and research methods and ideas of this article.The first chapter is mainly about summing up and thinking about the study of the matchmaker culture and the matchmaker image since the 20 th century.Based on the specific content and development law of the research,the thesis divides the academic process of nearly 120 years into three parts: "the early 20 th century: mainly the beginning of the matchmaker in the scope of marriage history","the late 20 th century: the study of the marriage customs in the late 20 th century ‘Recovering’ ","In the early 21 st century: the prosperity of the matchmaker culture and the study of the matchmaker image".Detailing the four main themes of the study of matchmaker culture and literature since the 20 th century,namely the study of the origin and function of the "matchmaker",the study of the "matchmaker" in ancient literary works,the study of the matchmaker culture in the pre-Qin and Tang and Song Dynasties,Chinese and foreign comparative study of the matchmaker culture;finally pointed out that the study of the matchmaker culture and image since the 20 th century has not only achieved important academic achievements,but also has many shortcomings,thus leaving academic space for the research of this topic.The second chapter mainly discusses the main categories and characteristics of the matchmaker image in San Yan Er Pai.The paper does not follow the classification of“ official matchmaker,private matchmaker ” that was used by researchers recently,but according to the criteria of "whether to use the matchmaker as a profession",to divided into four categories: “professional matchmaker”,“part-time matchmaker”,“non-professional matchmaker” and “magic and object matchmaker”.Characteristics of various matchmaker:“Professional matchmaker” refers to those “official matchmaker” or “matchmakers” who use the marriage to obtain remuneration.They have a certain professional reputation and status at the time,but the author describes these matchmakers not detailed,they are not the main portrayal of the matchmakers;"part-time matchmakers" such as "three aunts and six women" in the nuns,teeth,aunts and some hotel owners,the flowers of the mother,etc.,although the matchmaker is their second career,however,eloquent and greedy is the basic characteristics of this kind of image;the "non-professional matchmakers" team is complex.This group does not generally have the professional matchmakers skills of “speakable and eloquent”,but they carry out occasional media activities with their different identities and purposes.Among them,the local bureaucratic matchmakers represented by "Qiao Taishou",is not only a new image in the works of citizen literature,but also the ideal desire of the authors of the novel to call for "good matchmakers" and "clear officials";"The object media",by the author of the novel to anthropomorphic art,gives humanity the spirituality,and often has beyond the human singular function,can overcome various obstacles to achieve marriage between men and women,and does not require rewards.The third chapter discusses the artistic achievements of the matchmaker image of San Yan Er Pai,it takes the art of the matchmaker image group as the starting point,from "shaping the typical matchmaker figures and matchmaker examples" 、 "Innovative use of a variety of artistic methods" and "playing the narrative function of the matchmaker image" and otherthree aspects of in-depth discussion,a more comprehensive summary of the San Yan Er Pai in shaping the image of the matchmaker,the artistic achievements.Among them,this article will have in-depth and specific discussion about generalizing the professional matchmaker,part-time matchmaker,non-professional matchmaker,and other matchmaker image,analyzing the new bureaucratic image of "Qiao Taishou" and the typical image of the relatives and friends: "Wang Sanlao",summarizing various art methods of the novel such as the characteristic matchmaker language description,behavioral performance,detailed characterization,and discussing in the narrative.The fourth chapter focuses on the ideological and cognitive value of the matchmaker image of San Yan Er Pai,which is divided into the "Marriage Matchmaker Thought" of San Yan Er Pai","the literary interpretation of the evolution of the ancient matchmaker and the concept of marriage customs" and the "social criticism spirit of guiding the ignorance of the vulgar".Among them,when expounding San Yan Er Pai selecting "the ancient and modern miscellaneous things" to shape the image of the matchmakers,it also vividly describes the evolution of the concept of ancient marriage customs from "marriage determined by parents"to "the saying of the matchmaker",expounding the new concept of freedom of marriage and love with the characteristics of the times in San Yan Er Pai,summed up the San Yan Er Pai emphasis on the words of the matchmaker,the characteristics of the matchmaker,the pursuit of good matchmaker ideals and other aspects of marriage matchmaker thoughts,have more new ideas.In the "Conclusion" section,a brief summary of the main content and main points of this article is given.
