Abstract/Summary:
Prosocial behavior refers to behaviors that conform to the expectations of society and are beneficial to others or even the group, such as donation, helping others, voluntary activities and charitable donations.A large number of studies have found that prosocial behavior is an important way to promote individual happiness:helping others is conducive to improving happiness, reducing sadness, avoiding pain and promoting interpersonal harmony.Adolescence is a critical period of life growth and stable formation of values and happiness. Therefore, the research on the relationship mechanism between prosocial behavior and happiness of adolescents is conducive to in-depth understanding of the generation mechanism of happiness, expanding the eudaimonic well-being,and providing theoretical guidance for adolescents to develop healthy values and happiness,as well as to promote their prosocial behavior and happiness.Although there have been a lot of researches on that the relationship between prosocial behavior and happiness, there are still some problems that need further study.First of all,in the past, most studies research the relationship between prosocial behavior and happiness focused on hedonic well-being,which is the pursuit of pleasure and avoidance of pain, and paid little attention to the pursuit of meaning and eudaimonic well-being.Therefore,this study intends to comprehensively and systematically explore the relationship between prosocial behavior and hedonic well-being and eudaimonic well-being.Secondly,the internal mechanism of the relationship between prosocial behavior and happiness is not clear.Previous studies have studied the role of basic psychological needs in the relationship between prosocial behavior and happiness based on self-determination theory, but there has been no research on the role of self-reflection in the relationship between prosocial behavior and happiness based on response shift theory.Response shift theory originally refers to people when they are in the people oriented altruistic behavior,it is easier to change the original self, pulling away from the excessive focus on self, adaptive self-reflection,open your arms to changes in the lives of reduce negative emotions to your negative evaluation, increase the positive evaluation on their own, have peace of mind to get rid of the heavy burden and pressure to get happiness.Although response shift theory has strongly predicted the relationship between prosocial behavior and happiness, there has been no empirical research on the role of self-reflection in the relationship between prosocial behavior and happiness.Based on these questions, this study is based on the response shift theory, taking prosocial behavior as the independent variable, hedonic well-being and eudaimonic well-being as the dependent variable, and self-reflection as the mediating variable to explore the relationship among these three factors in the group of adolescents. This study selected the shaanxi province and henan province and other places of the first, second day and a total of 884 middle school students as the research object,By examining the situation of prosocial behavior, the hedonic well-being and eudaimonic well-being and self-reflection of adolescents,Through the data analysis of psychology-related statistical software, the following research results are obtained:1.The prosocial behavior,self-reflection,hedonic well-being and eudaimonic well-being of teenagers are relatively high and above the average level;Except that there is no obvious gender difference between prosocial behavior and eudaimonic well-being,the four variables of prosocial behavior,self-reflection,hedonic well-being and eudaimonic well-being have obvious differences in gender, grade, homelocality and whether they are the only child.2.The four variables of prosocial behavior,self-reflection,hedonic well-being and eudaimonic well-being are significantly positively correlated;3.The direct effects of prosocial behavior on self-reflection,hedonic well-being and eudaimonic well-being are significant, while the direct effects of self-reflection on hedonic well-being are not significant, and the direct effects on eudaimonic well-being are significant.Self-reflection plays a part in mediating between prosocial behavior and eudaimonic well-being,but not between prosocial behavior and hedonic well-being.To sum up,we can draw the following conclusions:First of all,The prosocial behavior of adolescents is positively related to the hedonic well-being and the eudaimonic well-being;Secondly,The prosocial behavior of adolescents has a positive relationship with the tendency of self-reflection,and self-reflection has a positive relationship with the hedonic well-being and the eudaimonic well-being;Finally,The increase of prosocial behaviors of adolescents is conducive to the increase of self-reflection tendency, and thus to the improvement of their eudaimonic well-being,but not to the improvement of their hedonic well-being.
