The concept of logistics supply chain management originates in the United States.Along with the development of economy integration in the world, supply chain management in China needs to be further improved in order to participate in international cooperation and division of labor based on specialization on an equal footing. The business scope of logistics industry is wide.In addition, this industry is highly foreign-related,so a large number of technical terms and professional English knowledge are used in order processing, transportation, warehousing, supplier management and multimodal transport and other businesses. Thus, bilingual translation of supply chain management materials is becoming increasingly important.High-quality translation provides enterprises with valuable experience in the integration of logistics information and hence the economic performance will be improved. The source text of this translation report is excerpted from Chapter 2 of Supply Chain Logistics Management which is written by David Blanchard,a professor of macroeconomics and published by Chinese Business Press. The source text systematically expounds the concept of supply chain management and analyzes the design and management functions in detail. There has been no Chinese version since its publication although it is vital for the participant in logistics industry. The source text adopted in this translation report is classified as academic and informative text that aims to convey valid information. In the process of translation, the translator takes Nida’s functional equivalence theory as the theoretical framework and combines the stylistic and linguistic characteristics of the source text to summarize translation techniques at the lexical, syntactic and discourse levels. This report is divided into four parts.Chapter One analyzes the source text, including the features of the source text.Chapter Two describes the translation process, including preparations, theoretical framework, the translation duration and quality control.Chapter Three, the main body of this report,is case analysis which proposes effective strategies to deal with the difficulties in the translation process at lexical, syntactic and discourse levels.Chapter Four is a conclusion of experience and lessons and raises unresolved issues. The translator hopes to provide a reference for the translation practice of related logistic texts in the future.
