A Report On The C-E Translation Of The History Of Henan Gardens(Chapter Seven)

As an important part of the world landscape architecture,Chinese garden art has experienced a long history of more than 3,000 years.Chinese traditional gardens have formed a unique landscape architecture system.Among them,Henan gardens are unique.Due to interests in Henan gardens,the translator chooses the seventh chapter of The History of Henan Gardens as practical translation material.The author is Professor Tian Guohang of Henan Agricultural University.The book is a comprehensive and systematic work on the landscape of Henan gardens at present.It takes Henan gardens as the research object,improves the contents of the study of the history of Chinese gardens.The contents of this book highlight the regional characteristics and cultural connotations of the gardens in Henan region,and evaluates the historical value of Henan gardens objectively and reasonably.In the translation practice report,there are four chapters including the description of translation project,translation process,case studies of translation,and the summary of the translation practice.In the first chapter,it describes background,introduction and the significance of translation project.The second chapter is about translation process including such preparations for translation as the background information of the Henan gardens,the type analysis of the source text and the introduction of basic theories,solutions of difficult points in translation at the lexical level,syntactical level and textual level,and the reviewing-and-revising of translation.The third chapter is based on the difficulties and key points in translation practice,focusing on the specific cases in translation practice.The fourth chapter is a summary of the translation project involving gains from the translation practice,existing inadequacies in the translation practice.The purpose of this translation task is help more foreign readers to understand Henan gardens,learn the uniqueness of Henan gardens,which is helpful to promote the development of Chinese gardens.
