A Study On The Decorative Art Of Wood Carving In The Ancestral Hall Of Juzu,Jiexi County

Chaoshan ancestral temple is an important part of traditional Chaoshan culture,the wood carving decoration art in chaoshan ancestral temple not only reflects a certain period of the chaoshan ancestral temple architecture style and features,but also represents a part of the chaoshan culture and lifestyle of Teochew.It includes all the material and spiritual production creating and inheriting in people’s long-term social life,with the characteristics of historic and regional aesthetic culture.The object of study is the decorative art of wood carving in Juzu templetaking thethemecontent,technique,technology,form and pattern of decoration as the main research content,and using the relevant theories and methods of decorative art,folklore and graphics to make a systematic analysis and textual research.As one of the top ten buildings of Chaoshan decorative arts,Juzu Jutemple is unique in the term of the historic nature,artistry and regionalism,with distinctive regional cultural characteristics.The temple has special shape and exquisite decoration.The wood carving decoration art in the temple contains luxuriant architectural decoration information of Chaoshan ancestral temple,which has high artistic merit.This article mainly carries on field investigation to Juzu temple,collecting materials of wood carving art in the temple as well as wood carving works on the spot.In addition,it gathers wood carving materials of other ancestral temples in Jiexi county and Guangfu area to make a comparative analysis.In thespecific research,the main purpose is to reveal the artistic value of wood carving decoration in Juzu temple.First of all,this paper analyzes the social background of wood carving decoration in Juzu temple,then discusses the influence of nature,politics,economy,culture and spirit of ideas on the wood carving decoration art in Juzu temple from the two causes of natural geographical environment and social and historical background,in order to get the essential root of the wood carving decoration art in Juzu temple.From the perspective of decorative art,the paper summarizes and clarifies the decorative position and quantity of wood carving in the temple,emphasizing the decorative technique,modeling features and decoration themes of wood carving.Secondly,thearticleexplores the relationship between the wood carving art in the temple and the Juzu temple,tosumma rize the features of the wood carving decoration art in the temple,such as its utility and function,symbol and implication,aesthetics and adaptation.The unique beauty of wood carving in Juzu temple is compared vertically with the features of different times in the temple,and then compared with the wood carving decoration of traditional architecture in Guangfu area and Dongyang wood carving,and the unique aesthetic characteristics of the overall style of wood carving decoration in Juzu temple are demonstrated from the side.Finally,by analyzing the current situation and problems of inheritance and protection of Chaoshan ancestral temple wooden carving decoration,this paper attempts to explore the inheritance and transmission ways of new Chaoshan ancestral temple wooden carving under the background of new media in the new era.
