Purpose: Through the investigation of the morbidity of the female college students with the upper crossing syndrome, the students with positive results of the upper crossing syndrome can be engaged in the training intervention of sports dance rumba for 12 weeks.By observing and studying the effect of rumba on the improvement of the upper crossing syndrome,it provides a new approach for correcting the bad posture. Methods: According to the diagnostic criteria,a total of 30 female patients with the upper crossing syndrome of college students(non-PE major)could be selected as experimental subjects which can be randomly divided into two groups: A and B.Group A was 15 in the experimental group and B control group. In group A,there were 36 classes,3 class hours a week and 2 hours every time, while in group B,there was no dance training to maintain a normal life. Both before and after the experiment there were static cervical and shoulder posture test,NPAD scoring scale and cervical range of motion test. Finally, the final conclusion is reached through data collation and analysis.Results:(1)The static cervical and shoulder indexes of experimental group were significantly different before and after the intervention, which was reflected in the significant decline of sticking out Angle and round shoulder Angle after the intervention(p<0.01).There was no significant difference in sticking out Angle and round shoulder Angle before and after the intervention in the control group(p>0.05),and the static cervical and shoulder indexes of the control group did not change significantly before and after the experiment.(2)There were significant changes in cervical range of motion in the experimental group before and after the intervention, and there were significant improvements in flexion, extension, left and right flexionleft and right rotation,as well as flexibility compared to pre-intervention.The flexion, extension, left and right flexion all showed significant increase(P<0.01);the left and right rotation angles of the neck were significantly increased(P<0.01).In the control group, there was no significant change in cervical range of motion before and after the intervention(P>0.05).This indicates that the cervical range of motion in the experimental group improved significantly after sports dance intervention.(3)The NPAD data showed that the NPAD index significantly declined after sports dance training for the experimental group(P<0.01).But the control group was not significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusions:(1)After 12 weeks of rumba dance training, the static cervical and shoulder posture and hunchback symptoms of female college students were improved significantly.(2)After 12 weeks of rumba dance training, cervical range of motion was significantly improved and the range of motion was increased.(3)After 12 weeks of rumba training, female college students’ neck pain was relieved. To sum up,the rumba of sports dance has a good effect on the treatment and improvement of the upper cross syndrome of ordinary female college students.
