| This dissertation attempts to draw up a comprehensive perspective on China’s political economy of copyright, with specific regard to the Chinese music market.Despite the abundance of scholarly research in such area, the very recent emergence of a thriving Chinese digital music industry, against the backdrop of rampant piracy and copyright infringement, still makes it at least challenging to investigate the relation between copyright laws, state policies and music businesses in China.China’s legal system for intellectual property(IP)protection is still addressed as ill-constructed and profoundly inefficient. However, the fortunate trajectory of the Chinese music industry,as part of what are considered copyright-based industries, has made China a key actor in the context of the global debate over copyright in the digital era. |
