Research On Translation And Dissemination Of "A Dream Of Red Mansions" In Thailand

The first translation of A Dream of Red Mansions in Thailand can be traced back to the second half of the last century.However,after the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand,the Thai translation was actually published on the market.This translation is the version of Worratat Dechitrakorn in 1980.More than 20 years after the translation was published,other Thai translations of the A Dream of Red Mansions appeared again.In the early 21st century,several private book publishing companies were established in Thailand.These publishers successively published different versions of the A Dream of Red Mansions translations.Nowadays,there are four Thai versions of the A of Red Mansions that are common in Thailand.The full original version,the translation,the adaptation and the comic book are different in characteristics.In 2012,the translation of Wiwat Pracharuengwit is the most complete version of the A Dream of Red Mansions.The four volumes of the translation are packaged in a boxset,which was translated strictly in accordance with the original Chinese text.Compared with other Thai translations,the content of the story is more identical to the original Chinese.The translator had a lot of comments in the text,and also translated Jiang Wenqin’s comments and added his own insight comments.The translator had devoted his life to the translation of this book,so the translation can be regarded as the best translation of Thai land’s A Dream of Red Mansions.The full translation of the set has the following characteristics:First,the style of the original text is strictly preserved,and the translator translated each sentence in the text directly.Due to language and culture gap,it will inevitably make some doubts to the reader.Second,the translator’ s understanding of some original words is biased,resulting in some mistranslations,which leads to the lackage of taste of the real context and the quality of the work is greatly malformed according to excessive focus on word translation and neglecting the real context of the original.Although the translations of A Dream of Red Mansions as mentioned on the above are not very satisfiable,they have played a certain role in the ditribution of A Dream of Red Mansions in Thailand,especially among the Thai readers who are interested in this work.The contribution of the distribution of Chinese culture should be acknowledged.
