The Nation,State And Religion:A Study In The Relation Of David Z.T.Yui And The Washington Naval Conference,1921-1922

David Z.T.Yui(1882-1936)is a famous modern Chinese religiousist,educator and diplomat.As a new Christian intellectual elite,he integrates religious ideas into salvation and salvation practices.His experience is a classic case of Chinese Christian participation in Chinese social activities.This article uses David Yui’s participation in the national diplomatic activities of the Washington Naval Conference as a case to discuss the issue of Chinese Christian participation in Chinese society.The whole thesis is divided into five parts:The first chapter mainly discusses the development of David Yui’s diplomacy quality and the problems of his early diplomatic experience.The cultivation of diplomacy is divided into three stages:student,coaching,and studying abroad.The early years of diplomatic experience centered on Li Yuanhong Shogunate and Chinese tour beauty industry group;the second chapter discusses the eve of the Washington Naval Conference,David Yui was elected.For the sake of national representatives,it shows the complex process that the national representatives produce;Chapter 3 analyzes the opinions and goals of David Yui’s participation in the Washington Naval Conference;Chapter 4 describes David Yui’s participation in relevant issues during the Washington Naval Conference;Chapter 5 discusses the Washington Naval Conference.During the rest of the day,David Yui’s publicity and influence on public opinion in China and the United States.Overall,David Yui’s participation in the Washington Naval Conference was a national diplomatic activity under the status of religion and secularity.It is not only a positive reaction of Christians to the Washington Naval Conference,but also a typical case of national diplomacy that realizes the country’s modernization and internationalization,safeguards national rights,and realizes national independence.During this period,David Yui’s religious beliefs and the ideals of saving the nation were combined and courageously practiced,erecting a patriotic Christian image and making contributions to China’s diplomacy.
