Nature And Human:The Work Of A Lai In The Perspective Of Ecocriticism

As the development of the society,ecological problems,including the social ecological crisis as well as humans spiritual problems have been an global issue and more and more serious,all which have been caught the attention of the scholars from literature field.A Lai,who grows from nature and folk culture,is one of the pioneers to posit the ecological consciousness in literature field.With the love towards homeland,A Lai keeps on describing the natural ecological situation in words,studies the relationship between humans and nature from social ecology and humans spirit perspective and convey his consciousness of ecological responsibility.Thus,this thesis attempts s to state the efforts A Lai makes in realization of the harmony between nature and humans through the analysis on his works and discussion about his ecological consciousness in writings from natural ecological descriptions,social criticism and solutions perspectives.Influenced by regional scenery and traditional culture,A Lai keeps the value of being respect to nature and awe of lives.Being closer to nature,A Lai’s works not only deliver rich information of nature,but also convey his expectation to the harmony with it.Moreover,guided by the writers abroad such as Whitman who is also the lover to nature,A Lai takes advantage of literature to show his reflections and thoughts in ecology and human existence.To A Lai,his ecological understanding does not occurred overnight.From his works,we can find out his attention to ecological problems has experienced stages from simple to complicate.In his early poets,A Lai highly praises nature beauty and the harmony between humans and nature.Nature,at that time,was A Lai’s emotion speaker,giving him lots of vitality and shine.Later,in A Lai’s novel,nature plays a quite different role.The writer showed his profound worrying to ecology through the recurrence of the continuously worsening relationship between humans and nature.The repetition of changes in forests is an epitome of what in the relationship between humans and nature.The highway is a symbol of series of ecological problems,whereas it stands as development and modernization in reality.By virtue of it,A Lai presents the ecological issues and expresses his pity and sadness to nature ruins.Based on the reality observation,A Lai starts with the phenomenon description.Further,he gives his profound reflection to human society,a cause to natural ecological issue.Social ecology problem,as an important factor to the worsening relationship between humans and nature,is the center in A Lai’s works.In modern society,the respect and awe for the nature gives its way to man’s center.With the principle of man-importance,humans conflict with nature frequently,want to conquer and control the nature,thus humans gradually lost themselves in it.Accompanied by humans unlimited ambition,humans increasingly explore the nature.In order to meet their wants,humans not only boundlessly take a lot from nature,but also plot against each other.With wars and apathy,humans have become the slaves of material.Religions,used to keep the ecology balance and remain the harmony between humans and nature,have been fading out of humans’ spirit.This,in A Lai’s view,is a important issue in social ecology and natural ecological problem.With the loss of belief,humans break the last rule and destroy the nature ruthlessly.Humans stand upon the nature.With the stronger in humans,the weaker in nature.The ultimate goal of A Lai is to find out solutions to the conflicts and re-established the harmony.Walking and reflecting continuously,A Lai puts forward solutions from the spiritual aspect:One is to return religious beliefs,to be charity and reshape the respect and stand in awe of nature,another is to rebuild homeland of the folk culture,support and purified the humans spirit as well as get along well with nature,the other one is simplified humans life style,realize human’s position and needs with nature.In writing and thinking the relation between humans and nature,A Lai’s works are given a totally new perspective with ecological meaning.Thus,this thesis not only can broaden the study to A Lai,but also illuminates the contribution A Lai makes for Chinese literature,or even with of great importance to the present literature analysis.
