Peng Sunyu,style JunSun,was a famous scholar in the Early Qing Dynasty.Qing Bai Lei Chao《清稗类钞》)praised that“he was so versatile and erudite that Wang Shizhen and Zhu Yizun acknowledged the superiority.”He was good at poetry in various genres and especially praised for his poetic style like Dali(大历)poets in Tang Dynasty.His Ci(词)was as good as Wang Shizhen,scholars at that time called them“PengWang”and Peng was even in the front.Peng was born in the transition from Ming Dynasty to Qing Dynasty.When he was young,he failed to pass Imperial Examination again and again.Then he encountered“Financial Receipts and Expenditures Reporting in Jiangnan”(奏销案)just as he was admitted in the Imperial Examination.When it comes to the 18th year of Kangxi,Peng won the first place in Boxuehongru(博学鸿儒)Examination which brought him fame and fortune.Peng Sunyu then stayed together with the group of learned scholars in Beijing,presided the provincial examination,compiled History of the Ming Dynasty(《明史》),making a far-reaching impact on the political and literary circles in the Early Qing Dynasty.However,there was no detailed information about Peng’s personal narratives in historical records,such as his biography in History of the Qing Dynasty(《清史》),Biographies about the History of the Qing Dynasty(《清史列传》),Ji Wei Division Recorded《己未词科録》),the Local Chronicles of Jiaxing Prefecture in Guangxu(《光绪)嘉兴府志》),the Local Chronicles of Haiyan County in Guangxu(《(光绪)海盐县志》),and etc.And until now,there was still no comprehensive in-depth research about Peng’s personal narratives.Thus for having a more particular understanding of Peng,the author attempts to make a chronicle which includes his life stories,his friends and cultural ecology in his time.The chronicle is including hereinafter several parts:notes on the use general notices,genealogical table,the chronicle.In the first part,the way to compile the chronicle is explained.The family relations of Peng’s family members are showed in the second part.The structure of the third part is arranged by year.Based on the relevant collections of poems and works.historical biographies,local records,and chronicles,as well as by doing the textual research about Peng’s life stories,friends,and his works,a detailed chronicle is made to describe Peng’s whole life.The attached monographic researches on Peng is the reward of combing Peng’s biography.
