Affective factors are as important as cognitive factors in the teaching of English.However,many English teachers tend to emphasize the students’ cognitive education and neglect their emotional education in secondary vocational schools.It restricts students’emotional development and at the same time impairs the quality of English teaching.With the issue of the syllabus for secondary vocational schools,many teachers pay more attention to affective factors.This thesis discussed the influence of affective factors on the teaching of English in secondary vocational schools in China’s mainland.It is a case study in Fu’ an Vocational Technical School.In the thesis,we try to answer the following questions:How to carry out constructive emotional education in secondary vocational schools?Is there any significant difference between the traditional teaching in the controlled class and the emotional teaching in the experimental class?On the basis of a questionnaire investigation and affective teaching experiment and by means of humanism theory,the hierarchy of needs theory and constructivism theory,this thesis analyses the existing problems in the teaching of English in secondary vocational schools.According to the data collected from the experiment of this study,we made a conclusion that there is significant difference in reducing the students’ anxiety and stimulating the students’ motivation.There is no significant difference between the traditional teaching in the controlled class and the emotional teaching in the experimental class.Although in the self-esteem and classroom communication aspect,the traditional teaching in the controlled class and the emotional teaching in the experimental class did not possess significant difference,students from the experimental class enhanced their self-esteem and classroom communication.The experiment showed that we should lay emphasis on the teaching of English in secondary vocational schools.
