Studies On Hu Xiaoshi’s Classical Poetry

Professor Hu Xiaoshi is a well-known scholar,calligrapher and poet of his time.However,his academic research and calligraphy attract the attention of researchers.There is no study on his poetry writing.So this paper tries to evaluate Professor Hu’s great achievents in the Chinese traditional poetryThe preface of the paper gives a brief introduction to the method adopted in this research work as well as the status and significance of the study on Professor Hu’s works.Chapter One aims at giving a brief introduction of Professor Hu’s three teachers,who are play important roles of Hu Xiaoshi’s poetry writing and academic researching.Chapter Two discusses the five stages of Professor Hu’s poetry.With the help of periodicals in his era,making summaries of his writing style in different stages.Chapter Three focuses on the characteristics and uniqueness of Professor Hu’s writing style,especially his seven-character-quatrain.This part includes Professor Hu’s apprenticing,academic research and the creation of his poetry.Chapter Four describes a communication,by means of poetry writing,between Professor Hu and his friends,among whom are Professor Huang Kan and Professor Wang Pijiang,for poetry writing is part of their daily live.A comparison between his poetry and those of his contemporaries helps illustrate Professor Hu’s writing style as well as the great value attained in his poetry.Appendix One is presenting the collection of his scattered poetry.Appendix Two talking about anthologies published nowadays,trying to present a historical image of Professor Hu’s poetry.Appendix.Three is giving three examples of Professor Hu’s calligraphy.
