Development A Questionnaire On The Midwives’ Attitudes Toward Childbirth Accompanied By Family Members

Objectives To develop a questionnaire to assess midwives’ attitudes toward childbirth accompanied by family members,and to test its reliability and validity.Methods 1.Based on the triadic theory of attitude,10 midwives were interviewed and the questionnaire item pool was formed with literature research,including 43 items.2.After two rounds of expert consultation and evaluation of the items by 24 midwives,a37-item test questionnaire was formed.3.A total of 470 valid questionnaires were collected by using the questionnaire star.The critical ratio method,item total correlation coefficient method,Cronbach’s α coefficient method and exploratory factor analysis method were used to construct a questionnaire on midwives’ attitudes toward childbirth accompanied by family members.Structure validity and content validity were used to evaluate the validity of the questionnaire.Internal consistency reliability and retest reliability were used to evaluate the reliability of the questionnaire.Results（1）Item analysis: in the critical ratio method,all items had statistically significant differences,and no items were deleted.The correlation coefficients of item1 and item 2 with the total questionnaire were 0.262 and 0.367,respectively,which were deleted.Cronbach’s α coefficients of the total questionnaire decreased after each item was deleted.After exploratory factor analysis,9 items were deleted,leaving 26 items in the end.（2）Validity analysis: In the second exploratory factor analysis,71.79% of the total variance was explained by three factors,named cognition（7 items）,emotion（9 items）and behavioral tendency（10 items）respectively.The content validity index of each item level ranged from 0.857 to 1.000,the S-CVI of consensus at the questionnaire level was 0.962,and the average S-CVI was 0.995.（3）Reliability analysis: the retest reliability coefficient of the total questionnaire was 0.847,and the three dimensions were 0.818,0.830 and 0.863 respectively.The Cronbach’s αcoefficient of the total questionnaire was 0.966,and the three dimensions were 0.931,0.960 and 0.950 respectively.Conclusions The questionnaire of midwives’ attitudes toward childbirth accompanied by family members has relatively ideal reliability and validity,and could be used to evaluate the attitude level of midwives toward childbirth accompanied by family members.
