| Background: Breast cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors with the highest incidence among women.Chinese medicine believes that stagnation of liver qi and deficiency of qi and xue are the main causes of breast cancer.Axillary web syndrome is one of the common complications. It mainly manifested as restricted upper extremity range of motion, and often accompanied by pain, occasional accompanied by numbness and other symptoms.Failure to undergo standard treatment will seriously affect the quality of life of patients. However, there are few treatment methods for axillary web syndrome at home and abroad currently, and lack of uniformity standards. Objective: Axillary web syndrome(AWS)is one of the common post-mastectomy complications and easily to be ignored in clinical treatment, there few reports on the treatment strategy. The purpose of this research was to analyze the efficacy of the massage manipulation for AWS,provide evidence for clinical prevention and treatment. Methods: A total of 79 patients with AWS in the department of Breast Surgery,The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from October 2019 to October 2020 were randomly divided into two groups,41 in the treatment group and 38 in the control group. The treatment group was provided massage manipulation by the well-trained traditional rehabilitation therapist and health education. The control group provided health education only. Two groups of patients would be follow-up before the treatment and 3,6 weeks respectively after the treatment. The shoulder range of motion(ROM),the VAS pain score, the DASH score and the Barthel index score were recorded and analyzed. Results: In 3 and 6 weeks of follow-up,the shoulder abduction and flexion range of motion, the DASH score and Barthel index score were improved compare with the control group, with statistical difference(P<0.05).There was no statistical difference(P>0.05)about the VAS pain score and shoulder extension range of motion in 3 weeks follow-up,but there was statistically difference(P<0.05)in 6 weeks follow-up.Conclusion: The massage manipulation can improve the limitation of shoulder movement, relieve upper limb pain, and improve limb function and self-care ability in patients with AWS after breast cancer operation. |
