| In the context of the rapid growth of commercial health insurance, the development of corporate supplementary medical insurance has been very slow.Based on the relatively insufficient development of corporate supplementary medical insurance and its important role in reducing the burden of residents’ medical expenses, research on the influencing factors of corporate supplementary medical insurance is of great significance in expanding the coverage of corporate supplementary medical insurance, improving our country’s multi-level social security system, and reducing residents’ medical burden, etc. This article takes enterprises as the main body of decision-making,and uses the data of "China 2008-2011 National Taxation Survey" to conduct empirical tests on the factors affecting enterprises’ participation in supplementary medical insurance. The study found that compared with non-state-owned enterprises and small-scale enterprises,state-owned enterprises and large-scale enterprises have significantly higher participation probability and payment rate of supplementary medical insurance. In addition, wage levels, social insurance payment rates, corporate net profit rates, and tax burden rates of operating income, the age of the company and the proportion of exports have a significant positive impact on the company’s supplementary medical insurance participation probability and payment rate, while per capita fixed assets and leverage have a significant negative impact on the company’s supplementary medical insurance participation probability and payment rate.We use the expanded Blinder-Oaxaca decomposition method to decompose the difference in the probability of purchasing supplementary medical insurance for enterprises of different ownerships and private enterprises of different sizes,it is found that state-owned enterprises or large-scale enterprises not only have a higher rate of participation in supplementary medical insurance, but also have a higher social security contribution rate. The wage level is also higher, but the reasons behind it are different.Secondly, corporate net profit margin contributes to the difference in the supplementary medical insurance participation rate of some enterprises of different sizes, but it contributes very little to the difference in different ownership systems.Finally,state-owned enterprises and large-scale enterprises include more older enterprises,so the corporate supplementary medical insurance premium rate is higher. In order to promote the sustainable development of corporate supplementary medical insurance, this article proposes the following.First, strengthen publicity and education to improve the insurance awareness of business owners and employees.Second, companies’ participation in social insurance has a driving effect on corporate supplementary medical insurance,so it is recommended to reduce the statutory payment rate of social security and increase the review of small and medium-sized enterprises to increase the degree of social insurance participation.Thirdly, increasing subsidies for the purchase of supplementary medical insurance premiums for small and medium-sized enterprises can reduce the purchase cost of small and medium-sized enterprises, thereby increasing the majority of small and medium-sized enterprises supplementary medical insurance participation rate. The main contributions of this thesis are as follows: First, there are few empirical articles studying the influencing factors of corporate supplementary medical insurance in my country from the enterprise level. This article has enriched the research on the influencing factors of corporate supplementary medical insurance from the enterprise perspective.Second, this article selects data from the2008-2011 National Taxation Survey, which covers a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises. However, the supplementary medical insurance participation rate for small and medium-sized enterprises is relatively low. Therefore, the research in this article is of enlightening significance in increasing the participation rate of supplementary medical insurance for small and medium-sized enterprises, the health of multiple employees, especially low-income employees.Third,we use the expanded Blinder-Oaxaca decomposition method to explore the contribution of other factors to the difference in the supplementary medical insurance participation rate of enterprises of different ownership and different sizes in addition to ownership and scale. |
