Effect Of Temporal Three Acupuncture Combined With Moxibustion For Removing Stasis And Clearing Collaterals On Homocysteine Levels In VD Patients And Its Therapeutic Effect

Objective:To observe the effect of three temporal acupuncture combined with moxibustion for removing stasis and clearing colllaterality on serum homocysteine level,and to improve the cognitive ability and daily living ability of patients with vascular dementia.Methods:A total of 60 patients with elevated serum homocysteine(Hcy)in vascular dementia were collected from the Department of Rehabilitation and Department of Encephalopathy,Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to December 2020.According to random number table method,they were divided into acupuncture group and medicine group,with 30 cases in each group.Patients in the two groups were given symptomatic and prevention of complications and other basic treatment.In addition to symptomatic treatment,the acupuncture group was treated with three temporal acupuncture combined with moxibustion for removing blood stasis and clearing colllaterals(acupuncture once a day,six times a week,4 weeks as a course of treatment,a total of 2 courses;Tuesday、Thursday、Saturday every week,4 weeks as a course of treatment,a total of 2 courses of treatment).The drug group was treated with folic acid and oral donepezil hydrochloride(5mg once a day,4 weeks as a course of treatment,a total of 2 courses).Respectively to observe and record the patient before the treatment,the two end of the day,and two treatment after 2 months follow-up detection Hcy levels in the blood,easy scale mental state examination(MMSE),Montreal cognitive assessment scale(Mo CA),clinical dementia rating scale(CDR),daily life ability scale(ADL)and vascular dementia syndrome scale(SDSVD)and so on.Results:Before treatment,there was no significant difference in each scale between the two groups.Compared with before treatment,after 2 courses of treatment and follow-up,the scores of MMSE scale,MOCA scale and ADL scale were increased,while the scores of CDR scale and SDSVD scale were decreased.Compared with the western medicine group,the scores of MMSE scale,MOCA scale and ADL scale increased more obviously after 2 courses of treatment and follow-up in the acupuncture and moxibustion group,while the scores of CDR scale and SDSVD scale decreased more significantly.Before treatment,there was no significant difference in serum Hcy between the two groups.Compared with before treatment,serum Hcy decreased in both groups after 2 courses of treatment and follow-up.Compared with the western medicine group,the decrease of serum Hcy was more significant in the acupuncture group after 2 courses of treatment and follow-up.Conclusion:Both the acupuncture and moxibustion group and the drug group could improve the cognitive ability and daily living ability of VD patients,but the acupuncture and moxibustion group had a significant effect.Both acupuncture group and drug group could reduce serum Hcy of VD patients,and the effect of acupuncture group was better than that of drug group.The therapeutic mechanism of temporal three-acupuncture combined with moxibustion for removing stasis and dredging colllaterals in VD patients may be related to the decrease of Hcy.
