Objective:The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between vestibular function examination and prognosis of patients with unilateral idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss by retrospective analysis of the severity of hearing loss and vestibular function.Methods:105 patients with unilateral idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from December 2018 to December 2020 were selected. The results of pure tone hearing threshold, hearing loss classification, video nystagmus(VNG),vestibular evoked myogenic potential(VEMP)and video head impulse test(v HIT)were retrospectively analyzed. The severity of hearing loss was graded according to the pure tone audiogram at the time of admission, and compared with the pure tone audiogram at the time of discharge to evaluate the curative effect of patients;the patients were divided into groups according to the results of VNG,VEMP and v HIT,and the differences of curative effect and degree of hearing loss of patients with different examination results were compared. Results:The recovery rate of patients with mild hearing loss after treatment was 50%,which was significantly higher than that of patients with moderate and severe hearing loss after treatment. The recovery rate of patients with very severe hearing loss after treatment was the lowest, only 3.08%.The difference between the severity of hearing loss and the curative effect of patients was statistically significant(P < 0.001).The total effective rate and cure rate of patients with normal vestibular function were 100% and 80%respectively,which were significantly higher than that of patients with abnormal vestibular function(27.78% and 5.56%).The difference between the results of three vestibular function tests and the curative effect was statistically significant(P < 0.001).Conclusion:The results of vestibular function examination and the severity of hearing loss in patients with ISSHL have certain clinical value in evaluating the prognosis of patients.
