Objective1.To investigate the latencies of P1 and N1,P1-N1 interval,peak-to-peak of P1-N1 amplitude, threshold and asymmetry ratio of air-conducted ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential(o VEMP) in healthy young people, so as to establish the normative data of young people. At the same time to probe the effects of gender on o VEMPs.2.Respectively investigate the latencies of P1 and N1,P1-N1 interval and peak-to-peak of P1-N1 amplitude of air-conducted o VEMP in sick ears and healthy ears of the patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSHL). The sick ears, the healthy ears and the healthy people respectively compared;the hearing loss patients with vertigo and without vertigo compared. To clear the effects on the vestibular system in sudden hearing loss patients.Methods1.Fifity-five healthy young objects were recruited as study participants,All participants are from our hospital internship students and staff,In these people, including 31 males and 24 females, the age range is 18 to 35 years old old.500 Hz air-conducted tone burst was employed as stimulation.,The threshold of o VEMP in each ear was examined. The latencies of P1 and N1,P1-N1 interval,peak-to-peak of P1-N1 amplitude and asymmetry ratio were measured. Effects of gender on o VEMPs were also examined.2.Thirty-five cases of unilateral SSHL were enrolled as the observing group from December in 2013 to December in 2014.In these patients, including 20 males and 15females,the age range is 18 to 39 years old old, 19 cases of SSHL were left ear, 16 cases were right ear. 500 Hz air-conducted tone burst was employed as the stimulation, Respectively investigate the latencies of P1 and N1,P1-N1 interval, and peak-to-peak of P1-N1 amplitude of air-conducted o VEMP in sick ears and healthy ears of the patients with sudden hearing loss.Result1.The o VEMP waveform were elicited typical in all 55 cases(110 ears), extraction rate was 100%. The threshold of o VEMP examination was(82.23±2.92) d BHL,95 d Bn HL air-conducted get the latencies of P1 and N1,P1-N1 interval,peak-to-peak P1-N1 amplitude in these healthy young people were(11.53±0.80)ms,(16.61±0.87)ms,(5.18±1.04)ms,(5.96±2.59)μv,respectively. The peak-to-peak P1-N1 amplitude of male was(6.49±2.67) μv,the female was(5.28±2.34) μv, there were significant differences between male and female subjects in the wave amplitude(P<0.05).2.The o VEMP waveform were elicited in both ears of 31 patients with SSHL,, 4 sick ears did not elicit o VEMP waveform, extraction rate of 88%.95 d Bn HL air-conducted get the latencies of P1 and N1,P1-N1 interval,peak-to-peak P1-N1 amplitude in healthy ear were(11.92±0.85)ms;(17.07±1.04)ms,(5.15±0.69)ms,(5.44±2.53)μv.95 d Bn HL air-conducted get the latencies of P1 and N1,P1-N1 interval,peak-to-peak P1-N1 amplitude in sick ear were((12.16±0.76)ms;(16.94±2.57)ms,(5.16±0.73)ms,(2.89±1.66)μv.3.There were no significant differences between sick ears and healthy ears in latencies P1 and N1,P1-N1 interval. But the wave amplitude of sick ears is lower than healthy ears(P<0.05).4.There were no significant differences between the sick ears and the healthy control group in the latencies P1 and N1,P1-N1 interval. There were significant differences between sick ears and the healthy control group subjects in the wave amplitude(P<0.05)..5.There were no significant differences between healthy ear and the healthy control group subjects the latencies P1 and N1,P1-N1 interval and wave amplitude(P﹥0.05)..6.There were no significant differences between SSHL without vertigo and SSHL with vertigo in the latencies P1 and N1,P1-N1 interval and wave amplitude(P﹥0.05)..Conclusion1.The establishment of the normal value of air-conducted ocular evoked myogenic potential in young people.2.Gender difference has an impact on the o VEMP wave amplitude, of which the females are higher than the males.3.The wave amplitude in SSHL are lower than the healthy ear and the healthy control group, The wave amplitude is a sensitive index to evaluate the function of utricle and superior vestibular nerve.4.The SSHL patients have effect on vestibular function.,no matter whether it with vertigo.5.The function of utricle and superior vestibular nerve could be damaged in SSHL patients,Such damages could be evaluated objectively by o VEMP examinations.
