Correlation Study Between The Care Preparedness And Uncertainty In Illness In The Caregiver Of Laryngeal Cancer Patient

Objective:To investigate the status of care preparedness and uncertainty in illness in the caregiver of laryngeal cancer patient,analyze the important factors affecting the care preparedness and uncertainty in illness of caregiver of laryngeal cancer patient,and search the relationship between the care preparedness and uncertainty in illness.To provide the reference basis on follow-up clinical interventions for improving the status of care preparedness and reducing the status of uncertainty in illness of caregivers of laryngeal cancer patients.Methods:1.A convenient sampling method was used to select 182 caregivers of laryngeal cancer patients from December 2018 to December 2019 in two 3A-grade hospitals in Wuhan.The general information questionnaire of patients and caregivers,Caregiver Preparedness Scale,Mishel Uncertainty in Illness Scale was used to investigate the status of care preparedness and uncertainty in illness of the caregiver of laryngeal cancer patient.2.All data were collected and analyzed by SPSS 22.0 software.Independent t-test,Chi-square test,variance analysis and Pearson correlation were used to analyze the data of descriptive investigation.Results:1.The total score of CPS of caregiver of laryngeal cancer patients was(17.42± 4.32)points,and the physical need was the highest score which was(2.63 ±0.35)points,the lowest were the obtaining medical help and information resources and responding to emergencies which were(1.80 ± 0.27)points and(1.76 ±0.27)points.2.The total score of CPS of caregiver of laryngeal cancer patients were significant differences with caregivers’ gender,ages education levels and caregiving experience of caregivers(P<0.05).3.The total score of uncertainty in illness of caregiver of laryngeal cancer patients was(87.26 ± 10.29)points.In four dimensions,the average score of ambiguity was(3.56 ± 0.46)points the average score of complexity was(3.56 ±0.46)points,the average score of unpredictability was(3.36 ± 0.42)points,the average score of lack of information was(3.19±0.31)points.4.The total score of uncertainty in illness of caregiver of laryngeal cancerpatients were significant differences with the payment of medical expenses and the frequency of hospitalization of patients,and the caregiver’s income,residence and the relationship between with patients(P<0.05).5.The caregivers preparedness was negatively correlated with the uncertainty in illness(r=-0.506,P<0.01).Conclusions:1.The care preparedness of caregiver of laryngeal cancer patients needs to be improved,the dimension of obtaining medical helps and information resources and responding to emergencies are lower.The main factors on the care preparedness of caregiver of laryngeal cancer are gender,ages,education levels and caregiving experience of caregiver.2.The caregivers of laryngeal cancer patients have the higher level of the uncertainties in illness.The average score of ambiguity is the highest.The factors on the uncertainty in illness of caregivers of laryngeal cancer patients are the payment of medical expenses and the frequency of hospitalization of patients,and the caregiver’s income,resident area and the relationship between the caregiver and patient.3.The caregiver’s preparedness is negatively correlated with the uncertainty in illness.Nurses should take some effective interventions to reduce their uncertainties in illness according to different caregivers,alleviate negative emotions such as anxiety,provide better care to patients,improve the levels of care preparedness and the life quality.
