| Objective:Compare the efficacy of U-shaped silicone stent and fully degradable drug stent with mometasone furoate coating applied to Congenital choanal atresia in order to optimize diagnosis and treatment and provide clinical reference. Methods:A collection of 20 children with congenital choanal atresia treated in our department from January 2016 to August 2020,with an average age of 3.35 years and a median age of 2 years, were divided into different types of postoperative nostril stents. There were 12 cases in the degradable drug stent group and 8 cases in the U-shaped silicone stent group. All children underwent electronic nasopharyngoscope and nasal CT examination before and after the operation. The postoperative follow-up was 6-24 months, with an average of 13 months. The postoperative symptom improvement of the two groups was analyzed and compared. The incidence of postoperative complications(nasal adhesion, granulation growth, posterior nostril stenosis/atresia),the average diameter of the new posterior nostril, growth and development.Results:Follow-up for 6 months to 24 months after surgery, the symptoms of the two groups of children were significantly improved;the postoperative complications of the fully degradable drug stent, such as the rate of nasal adhesion and granulation hyperplasia, were significantly lower than that of the U-shaped silicone stent group(P<0.05);there was no significant difference between the two in terms of the reocclusion rate of the posterior nostril, the average diameter of the new posterior nostril, and the growth and development(height and weight)at the time of reexamination(P>0.05).Conclusion:U-shaped stents and fully degradable drug stents after congenital choanal atresia can effectively improve postoperative ventilation and promote the normal growth and development of children. The fully degradable drug stent may be better than the U-shaped silicone stent in reducing complications such as nasal adhesion and granulation hyperplasia.Secondly, compared with U-shaped silicone stents, fully degradable drug stents have better aesthetics and comfort for children after surgery. |
