A Study Of The Gegen Qinlian Tang Formula Presentation Based On The Experience Of Huang Huang

Aim:This study aims to summarize Professor Huang Huang’s experience in the application of Gegen Qinlian Tang(GGQLT)based on his clinical records from 2015 to 2020,and to confirm the formula presentation of GGQLT based on the data mining and statistical analysis results according to "Formula-Disease-Constitution"(FDC)Theory.The main objective of this study is to provide some solid clinical evidences as references for further research.Methods:This study includes 80 cases from Prof.Huang Huang as the main resources to summarize the suitable diseases and conditions(Syndrome),and suitable population(Constitution)of GGQLT,and 75 ancient and modern cases from other TCM practitioners as complementary resources to help describing the full formula presentation.Results:(1)Suitable Population is mainly middle aged male with tendency of obesity,and young female with medium build.Physical features include thick muscles and solid fleshes,especially of shoulders,back and abdomen in male.Female usually is characterized by heavy body hair.More features include red and oily face,darker skin color,red conjunctiva and sclera,thick fatty eyelids and/or eyebags in male,red or dark red lips,or rosacea,or red forehead.There are also skin abnormalities on the face,scalpe,shoulders and back,such as greasy skin,prone to acne,pigmentation,pore keratosis,or even black thorn phenomenon.Some show fullness or discomfort in the upper abdomen,but the abdominal muscles are resilient.Fatigue and heaviness feeling in the body,especially in lumbosacral area and lower limbs.Irritability and anxiety,some patients show signs of memory loss or slow thinking.Red or dark red,hard and withered tongue body,with yellow,thick and greasy coating,or thick purple veins at the bottom of the tongue.Strong,repid and/or slippery pulse.Maj ority of them have bad diet and habits,such as indulging spicy greasy food and alcochol.(2)Suitable conditions include:Loose stools,sticky stools,diarrhea,constipation,frequent bowl moments,burning sensation around anus;abdominal distension,abdominal pain,acid regurgitation,belching,vomit,headache,dizziness,tinnitus and deafness,dry mouth and excessive thirst,oral ulcer,blurred vision,sore throat,epistaxis,bleeding gums,hyperhidrosis,night sweating,head and neck sweating,palpitation,chest tightness,shortness of breath,irregular menstruation,amenorrhea,dysmenorrhea,abnormal leucorrhea and sexual dysfunction,less urine with red in color,dysuria,heat sensation in urination,body heat,aversion to heat,heat sensation in palms and soles,insomnia and vivid dreams,memory loss,difficulty in concentration and slow thinking,hyperglycemia,hyperlipidemia,hypertension,hyperandrogenism,etc.(3)Suitable diseases include:Diabetes,hypertension,hyperlipidemia,fatty liver,stroke,cervical spondylosis,headache,insomnia,coronary heart disease,arrhythmia(tachycardia),neurological syndrome,acute/chronic enteritis,reflux gastroesophagitis,dysentery,acne,eczema,tinnitus and deafness,PCOS,prostatitis,vaginitis,influenza,oral ulcer,periodontitis,periodontal abscess,toxic enteritis,measles,Japanese encephalitis,etc.Conclusions:The formula presentation of GGQLT is identified,including the applicable diseases and conditions,and suitable population.This paper summarizes Professor Huang Huang’s experience in the application of GGQLT,and on the basis of the research results,distinguishes formula presentations of GGQLT and other formulae,which are comparable with GGQLT in many aspects.
