Objective: To collect and analyze the clinicopathologic characteristics of male breast cancer(MBC)patients in 29 tertiary hospitals in China. Methods: A total of 268 male breast cancer patients with pathological diagnosis by breast surgery and complete clinical data from 29 tertiary hospitals in China from 2017 to 2019 and 900 female breast cancer patients were admitted to the Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from 2017 to 2019 were enrolled as research subjects. The clinicopathologic characteristics and the treatment methods were retrospectively analyzed. Results: There were 268 male breast cancer patients in 29 hospitals, accounting for 0.34% of all the breast cancer patients in the same period. The median age was 63(range from 14 to 81);30.97% of patients had lymph node metastasis.TNM stage was mainly stage II(Ⅰ23.13%,Ⅱ 39.93%,Ⅲ 13.06%,Ⅳ 1.87%).Male patients were mainly invasive ductal carcinoma, accounting for 84.70% in all pathological types of MBC.,And pathological grade was mainly grade II(Ⅰ 4.10%,Ⅱ 58.21%,Ⅲ 13.43%).Immunohistochemical results: estrogen receptor(ER)positive 92.16%,progesterone receptor(PR)positive 88.06%,and Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER-2)positive 7.84%.Molecular classification: Luminal A 16.04%,Luminal B(HER-2negative)66.04%,Luminal B(HER-2 positive)6.34%,HER-2 positive only 1.49%,and Basal-like 4.85%.Treatment methods: surgical patients accounted for 95.52%,56.72% of the patients received postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy,17.16% received postoperative radiotherapy,52.61% received postoperative endocrine therapy, and 33.33%received anti-HER-2 treatment.Compared with 900 selected female breast cancer patients, there were significant statistical differences between the two groups in age of onset,T stage,TNM stage, histological grade, positive expression of hormone receptor,HER-2 expression, molecular typing, surgical methods, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, endocrine therapy,anti-HER-2 treatment and other aspects(P<0.05).Conclusions: The incidence of MBC is low,the age of onset is older, and the stage is early. The pathological type is mainly invasive ductal carcinoma.Surgery is still the main treatment for presents.Currently, there are few statistical data on male breast cancer,so it is still necessary to expand the sample size for research.
