Medicinal and edible plants play an important role in disease prevention and treatment. The extracts of Spondias pinnata(L.f.)Kurz fruits and the aerial parts of Coptosapelta diffusa(Champ.Ex Benth.)Steenis have significant anti-virulence and antibacterial activities. The chemical constituents of the two plants were separated and purified by column chromatography of silica gel,RP-1 8,Sephadex LH-20 and HPLC 38 compounds were obtained and their structures were identified by NMR,MS,UV and IR spectroscopy techniques. It provides a theoretical basis and material basis for the rational development and utilization of plantsFrom the ethanol extract of S.pinnata fruits,15 known compounds were elucidated including 5 caffeoylquinic acid derivatives,5-O-caffeoylquinic acid methyl ester(B1),5-O-caffeoylquinic acid(B2),5-O-caffeoylquinic acid ethyl ester(B3),3-O-caffeoylquinic acid methyl ester(B4)and 3-O-caffeoylquinic acid n-butyl ester(B5);3 coumarin,grevillone(B6),isoscopoletin(B7)and isoscopolin(B8);2 flavonoid glucosides,isoquercitrin(B9)and rutin(B10);3 organic acids,gallincin(B11),dimethyl malate(B12)and trimethyl ester of hydroxycitric(B13);one aromatic glycoside,1-p-Coumaroyl-β-D-glucose(B14)and one adenosine(B15).Caffeoylquinic acid derivatives were isolated from this fruit for the first time, and 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid methyl ester(B1)was the main component with the content of 258.38 mg/kg.Compounds B1-B15 did not show remarkable antibacterial and anti-13 SS virulence activities. From the ethanol extract of the aerial parts of C.diffusa,23 compounds were elucidated, including 6 iridoid glucosides, namely coptosapides A-F(H1-H6),3 guaiane-type sesquiterpenoids, namely diffuseterpenoids A-C(E1-E3)and one tetrahydroanthraquinone, namely diffusequinones D(E4),together with 7 anthraquinones,2-Methylanthraquinone(E5),2-Methoxyanthraquinone(E6),2-Formylanthraquinone(E7),2-Hydroxyanthraquinone(E8),2-Hydroxymethyl anthraquinone(E9),7-Hydroxy-2-methylanthraquinone(E10),2-Hydroxy-6-hydroxymethyl-anthraquinone(E11);4 coumarin,Isoscopoletin(E12),Isofraxidin(E13),6,7,8-Trimethoxycoumarin(E14),Isoscopolin(E15);2 aromatic compounds,Methyl 1,4-dimethoxy-2-naphthoate(E16)and Guaiacylglycerol(E17).Compounds E4,E7 and E8 showed significant antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC25923,with MIC of 8,4 and 8 μg/mL,respectively.
