| At the beginning of 2020,the sudden outbreak of Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic caused great panic across China.Policemen and policewomen of the Public Security Unit who regarded to be heroes in harm’s way,sacrificed their holidays and took great risk of viral infection to fight against the epidemic.The tasks and social responsibilities undertaken by Chinese policemen and policewomen are more complicated,the law enforcement environment is more complex,and the problem of insufficient police force is more prominent.Meanwhile,under the joint effect of the internal and external environment,policemen and policewomen are faced with more challenges than ordinary people and their psychological stress index is much higher than most other professions.Therefore,it is particularly important to pay close attention to the mental health and intervention of the police,who account for the largest proportion of the civil servants in China.Based on the research status of mental health,psychological stress and EAP at Home and abroad,this paper takes the police in H City as the research object,adopting the research methods of questionnaire and individual interview to investigate and analyze the level of psychological stress,the main causes and the demand for EAP of the police in H City during the Novel Coronavirus Epidemic.This paper puts forward some thinking and suggestions of the mental health of the Public Security Bureau in H City based on EAP Intervention according to the research results,The study is divided into two parts.In Study 1,318 policemen were evaluated with Scale SCL-90,and the mental health of the police in H City was studied from an overall perspective.In Study 2,individual interviews were used.12 police officers in H City were interviewed,and the interview materials were collected as a whole.The compilation cases were coded according to the Grounded Theory,and 152 open codes,18 main axis codes,and 7 core categories were obtained.The main causes of mental health and the demand for EAP of police officers in H City were analyzed.The main results are as follows:1.The level of mental health of the Public Security Bureau of H City is equivalent to that of the domestic norm,and there is no significant difference,but it is significantly different compared with the data of civil servants in domestic government agencies.Terrorism,paranoia,psychosis and other 7 factors and the overall score are higher than civil servants in government agencies,indicating that the level of mental health of the Public Security Bureau of H City is significantly higher than civil servants in domestic government agencies.2.The mental health level of the police in H City is normal.The top three factors are obsessive-compulsive symptoms,depression and other factors according to the average score of 10 factors of Scale SCL-90.There are significant differences in age,police working-age and post,but not in police type,gender and department.The scores of somatization factors were the highest among H city police officers aging 46-55 and of over 20 years of police working,which were significantly higher than those of young police officers.The score of obsessive-compulsive symptom factors of the police officers in the section-level(Section Chief/Section Deputy)is much higher than that of the ordinary police officers.3.The factors of unhealth psychology of the police in H city mainly comes from work and livelihood.From the analysis of interview case code,the main sources of police in H City are in turn: pressure from work,family factors,pressure from career promotion,role pressure,sensitive interpersonal relationships,organizational factors,and economic pressure,have led to different levels of mental health of the policemen and policewomen.4.Most of the policemen and policewomen interviewed agreed with the adoption of the public security EAP project,and they proposed the needs in welfare,medical security,education,psychological counseling,children’s education and so on according to their own reality.According to the analysis and results of the study,this paper,combined with the characteristics of public security occupation,studies the implementation mode of EAP for the Public Security Bureau of H City,and some relative problems and effective ways,which lays a solid foundation for the construction of EAP of Public Security Bureau of H City. |
