Objective:To investigate the effect of elemene injection combined with transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)on serum vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and matrix metalloproteinases-2(MMP-2)in primary liver cancer(PLC)patients. Methods:A total of 82 patients with PLC admitted to the oncology department of our hospital from December 2018 to December 2019 were randomly divided into 4 groups:the C-TACE group(n=22),the C-TACE+elemene group(n=20),the DEB-TACE group(n=20)and the DEB-TACE+elemene group(n=20).The serum levels of MMP-2 and VEGF in the 4 groups were separately detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)method at one day before the treatment,1 day after the treatment and 7 days after the treatment. To compare the short-term efficacy, adverse reactions and the changes in MMP-2,VEGF,AST,ALT,Cr,BUN,WBC and NEUT levels in the 4 groups before and after the treatment.Results:1.There was no statistically significant difference in the clinical characteristics and general data of each group(P>0.05).2.There were no statistical differences in the serum MMP-2 level of the C-TACE group at each time point(P>0.05).The serum MMP-2 level of the C-TACE+elemene group at 7 days after the treatment was lower than that at 1 day before the treatment and 1 day after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum MMP-2 level of the C-TACE+elemene group at 7 days after the treatment was lower than that of the C-TACE group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no statistical differences in the serum MMP-2 level of the DEB-TACE group at each time point(P>0.05).The serum MMP-2 level of the DEB-TACE+elemene group at 7 days after the treatment was lower than that at 1 day before the treatment and 1 day after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum MMP-2 level of the DEB-TACE+elemene group at 7 days after the treatment was lower than that of the DEB-TACE group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.The serum VEGF level of the C-TACE group was higher at 1 day after the treatment than that at 1 day before the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),the serum VEGF level of the C-TACE group at 7 days after the treatment was lower than that at 1 day after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum VEGF level of the C-TACE+elemenel group at 1 day after the treatment was higher than that at 1 day before the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),the serum VEGF level of the C-TACE+elemenel group at 7 days after the treatment was lower than that at 1 day after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum VEGF level of the C-TACE+elemene group was higher than that of the C-TACE group at 1 day after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),the serum VEGF level of the C-TACE+elemene group was lower than that of the C-TACE group at 7 days after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum VEGF level of the DEB-TACE group at 1 day before the treatment was lower than that at 1 day after the treatment and at 7 days after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),the serum VEGF level at 1 day after the treatment was higher than that at 7 days after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum VEGF level of the DEB-TACE+elemene group at 1 day before the treatment was lower than that at 1 day after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),the serum VEGF level of the DEB-TACE+elemene group at 7 days after the treatment was lower than that at 1 day after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum VEGF level of the DEB-TACE+elemene group was lower than that of the DEB-TACE group at 7 days after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum VEGF level of the C-TACE+elemene group was lower than that of the DEB-TACE+elemene group at 1 day after the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.There were no statistically significant difference among the groups in the degree of postoperative pain, nausea and fever(P>0.05).There were statistically significant difference between the AST level of the C-TACE group before the treatment and the AST level of the C-TACE group after the treatment(P<0.05),and in addition there was no significant difference in AST,ALT,Cr,BUN,WBC and NEUT levels between each group before the treatment and after the treatment. There was no statistically significant difference in the short-term efficacy of each group(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.Elemene injection can reduce the serum levels of MMP-2 and VEGF in PLC patients, which has a positive effect on the treatment of PLC patients and has a satisfying security.2.DEB-TACE treatment can control the increase of the VEGF level after the treatment more effectively, and can continuously reduced VEGF level through the process of slow drug release.
