Objective:To observe the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-7 (MMP-7) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in colorectal carcinoma and their relationships to clinicopathologic features . Supporting a new predictive and a new pathway to the treatment of the colorectal carcinoma. Methods: Choose 84 examples from March 1, 2006 to March 1, 2007, the Liaoning Province tumor hospital large intestine branch surgery 998 examples. Male 50 examples, female 34 examples. Age from 28 to 88 years old, the mean age is 58 years old. 25 colon examples, 59 rectal examples, High differentiation 11 examples, mid differentiation 51examles, poor differentiation 22 examples. Dukes A Stage 11 examples, Dukes B Stage 34 examples, Dukes C Stage 25 example, Dukes D Stage 14 examples. The examples were all adenoma carcinoma by the intestine scope and pathology examination before operating. The examples were not therapy. Such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and others. The technique uses the immunity group reduction (the S-P law) to examine Rectal Cancer to organize MMP-7 and VEGF protein expression examination. The data uses the computer SPSS13.0 statistics software to carry on the examination. The immunity group result photomicrograph absorbs the piece. Results: The MMP-7 protein expression masculine gender rate is 70.24 % (59/ 84) in this grope. The statistical analysis demonstrates MMP-7 expression was relate to tumor tissue type, lymph node metastasis and Dukes, stage of the colorectal carcinoma and was not relate with age, sex, tumor large, invasive depth and tumor diameter ; The VEGF proteinexpression masculine gender rate is 76.19 % (64/ 84) in this grope. The VEGF expression was not related to clinicopathologic features. The VEGF protein positive expression masculine gender rate is 84% (21/ 25) in MMP-7 negative expression. The MMP-7 protein positive expression masculine gender rate is 80% in VEGF negative expression. There was no relationship between MMP-7 expression and VEGF expression. Conclusion: MMP-7 was involved in the occurrence and development of colorectal cancer with high specialty, so it could be a predictive and prognostic factor of colorectal cancer. Decreasing the activity of MMP-7 might be a new pathway for colorectal cancer treatment. The VEGF expression was significantly expression but not related to clinicopathologic features. Anti-angiogenesis might be a new pathway in colorectal cancer treatment. There was no relationship between MMP-7 expression and VEGF expression.
