| Objective: In order to effectively protect and sustainably utilize the traditional Chinese medicine resources in Shitai County,we launch a systematic investigation and collect the latest information of the local medicinal plant resources,which includes species,distribution,reserves,utilization and variation tendency.The results would be applied to analyze of the flora characteristics of medicinal plants in Shitai County,explore characteristic species,and formulate the development scheme of traditional Chinese medicine.And our findings would provide a scientific basis for the development of the local industry of traditional Chinese medicine.Methods: In this Letter,we employ the hybrid approach,which combing literature research with field survey,to explore the medicinal plants resource of Shitai County.The literature research provides the reference frame for traditional field survey methods,including visiting surveys,line surveys and quadrat surveys.Moreover,the 3S technique,which integrates the Remote Sensing(RS),Global Positioning System(GPS)and Geographic Information System(GIS),is applied in the field survey to improve the efficiency of field work and guarantee the collection of effective data.Results: During the 110-day field survey,we have collected the samples of more than 1678 numbers with 6000 copies.184 families,662 genus and 1208 species of medicinal plants in Shitai County have been authenticated,including 19 key state protective species.Besides,it is the first time that Calanthe tsoongiana and Impatiens chekiangensis have been found in the recording of Anhui Province.Based on the result of sample survey,the total amount of Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua is estimated to be 159309 kg in Shitai County.We have investigated the floristic characteristics of medicinal plant genus in Shitai County.The results manifest that medicinal fern flora in this area can be divided into 8 distribution types with obvious characteristics of the tropical flora.The medicinal seeds flora has complicated ingredients,which can be divided into 14 types of distribution and 15 variants.Besides,the medicinal seeds flora has significant characteristics of the pan-tropical and north temperate,indicating that Shitai County locates in the transitional zone of the northern subtropical and temperate.On the basis of in-depth research of large medicinal plant resources with potential exploitation and special medicinal plant resources and edible plant resources in Shitai County,we have determined the sustainable medicinal plant species which are suitable for local production and development.Based on the detailed investigation of the habitat characteristics of endangered medicinal plants,we have analyzed and found out the inner causes and factors which result in the currently endangered situation.Furthermore,we have put forward the corresponding protection schemes.The results in this Letter have been successfully applied in the development scheme of the development plan of Chinese medicine resources in Shitai County.According to the survey and analysis of traditional Chinese medicine resources in Shitai County.The development scheme of Chinese tranditional medicine in Shitai Country is proposed to be devided into four constituent parts,including development and protection of traditional Chinese medicine resource in southwest zone;development and utilization of traditional Chinese medicine resource in eastern zone,comprehensive development and utilization of staple medicine resource in northwest zone,as well as integration of tourism with traditional Chinese medicine in the characteristically industrial district which distributes in the whole area of Shitai Country.Conclusion: Shitai County has abundant species of medicinal vegetation and large quantity of species for common usage,suggesting the high value of development and utilization.A large number of endangered medicinal plants need the strengthened protection in this area.The scientific mode of production as well as the rational scheme of traditional Chinese medicine resources would promote the traditional Chinese medicine industry of Shitai County with substantial economic benefits. |
