| Objective:In this study,we applied the propensity score matching method to eliminate the interference of confounding factors and reviewed retrospectively Kuijieguanchang Prescription retention enema combined with mesalazine therapy on90 patients who diagnosed with moderate ulcerative colitis, and then the clinical efficacy of Kuijieguanchang Prescription retention enema combined with mesalazine to treat ulcerative colitis was explored.Method:We collected the clinical data of patients with moderate ulcerative colitis from August 2016 to November 2020 who were hospitalized in the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.Patients were divided into a therapy group or a control group according to whether they received Kuijieguanchang Prescription retention enema treatment or not during hospitalization. After applying the propensity score matching method to balance the variables between the groups, the clinical efficacy of two groups was compared by the non-parametric Wilcoxon signed-rank sum test,chi-square test,or Fisher exact probability method. Results:In our study,we collected clinical data of 237 cases who are suffering from ulcerative colitis, among which 90 corporated cases were analyzed retrospectively, and there are 50 cases in the therapy group and 40 cases in the control group.Statistics shows that there is inconformity about hemostatic agents and glucocorticoid on baseline between two groups. After matching by the propensity matching score method,8 unmatched individuals were excluded. Then the statistics say that no significant difference exists between the two groups in baseline data(P<0.05).1Overall clinical efficacy analysis: the total effective rate of the control group is86.11 %,while the therapy group is 95.65%.The analysis indicates that Z=-2.056,P<0.05,so the difference is statistically significant.2 Endoscopic response and mucosal healing: the therapy group’s endoscopic response rate was 91.30% and mucosal healing rate was 84.78%,both are taller than that of the control group.the statistical differences of former between two groups is significant(P=0.023),while the latter one analyzed by chi-square test suggests that P=0.267,which means the diversity was not statistically remarkable.3 Mayo scores: The Mayo scores in the two groups were prominently descended after the treatment, and that of the therapy group were declined more than that of the control group with a statistically remarkable discrepancy(P=0.035).4 Traditional Chinese medicine syndromes: The efficacy evaluation of TCM syndromes suggests that therapy group’s effective ratio is 100%,which is taller than control group’s effective rate(97.22%),and the discrepancy is statistically notable(Z=-2.547,P=0.011).5 TCM syndrome quantitative integrals: the integrals of the all symptoms and four main symptoms of TCM of both of two groups were notably dropped after the treatment.Except for the diarrhea scores, others of the therapy group were less than control group, and the diversity was statistically prominent(P<0.05).Conclusion:Kuijieguanchang Prescription retention enema combined with mesalazine treatment is more effective than oral mesalazine in treating moderate UC discriminated with large intestine damp-heat syndrome. It can also prominently improve patients’ abdominal pain, grime stool and pyoid blood, tenesmus, and lower TCM syndrome scores. However, when it comes to improving diarrhea symptoms, there is no significant difference in the treatment of both two treatments. |
