ObjectiveTo investigate whether pre-ERCP carbohydrate consumption 2 hours before has a positive effect on postoperative recovery MethodsForty patients undergoing ERCP in the Department of Hepatobiliary of our hospital were enrolled.Patients who received ERCP were randomly divided into study group and control group, including 21 patients in the experimental group and 19 patients in the control group. The experimental group was given 400 ml of carbohydrate beverage(Tezhen Neng)2 hours before surgery, and the control group was given routine fasting and water abstention for more than 6 hours before surgery. The basic information, preoperative laboratory examination, postoperative laboratory examination, postoperative pain score, postoperative fatigue score, postoperative complication rate and so on were compared between the two groups.ResultsIntraoperative glucose in experimental group(6.73±2.01mmol/L vs8.69±2.22mmol/L,p < 0.05),glucose 2 hours after surgery(7.67±1.71 mmol/L vs9.00±2.04 mmol/L,p < 0.05),postoperative fatigue score(4.33±1.16 vs 5.53±1.26,p < 0.05),hospitalization cost(4.4±0.7 thousand yuan vs 5.0± 11,000,p < 0.05)were lower than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant. The postoperative pain score of the experimental group(3.33±1.07 vs 4.11±1.63,p > 0.05)and the postoperative hospital stay(4.90±3.42 d vs 5.74±3.08 d,p > 0.05)were lower than those of the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant. There was no significant difference between the two groups in basic information, preoperative laboratory examination, postoperative laboratory examination, postoperative hospital stay.ConclusionCarbohydrate consumption 2 hours before ERCP is safe and feasible, which plays a positive role in maintaining intraoperative and postoperative blood glucose stability, reducing insulin resistance, improving postoperative fatigue and reducing hospitalization costs.
