| Objective:To evaluate the effects of testosterone replacement therapy in LOH patients on lower urinary tract symptoms and prostate volume and PSA.Methods:Controlled clinical trials about effects of testosterone replacement therapy in LOH patients on lower urinary tract symptoms from their establishment to Aug.2020 were searched in Pubmed,Embase,Medline,Cochrane library,CNKI,Web of Science,Wangfan data and VIP database. Two independent reviewers screened the studies according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, extracted the data, evaluated the quality.Revman 5.3 was used for meta-analysis.Results:A total of 19 studies and 2479 patients were included.Meta-analysis showed that short-term TRT increased prostate volume [MD=2.48,95%CI(1.32,3.65),P<0.05],but did not increase mid-term and long-term prostate volume, while there was no significant difference in IPSS score, maximum urinary flow rate and PSA between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Short-term TRT may increase prostate volume,medium-and long-term prostate volume has no significant effect, and there is no significant effect on IPSS,maximum urinary flow rate and PSA level regardless of time. |
