Objective:To evaluate the value of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)in the classification of Mediopatellar plica(MPP),analyze the relationship between the classification of Mediopatellar plica and the degree of cartilage injury of Medial Femoral Condyle(MFC).Materials and Methods:To prospectively collect and analyze the magnetic resonance imaging data of the knee joint examined under arthroscopy, compared with arthroscopy the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of plica were calculated, and magnetic resonance imaging diagnosis was calculated, respectively the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of each classification, and the evaluation of magnetic resonance imaging classification diagnosis and arthroscopy consistency.analysis of the classification of Mediopatellar plica under magnetic resonance imaging and the degree of cartilage injury of Medial Femoral Condyle under arthroscopy relationship, analysis of arthroscopic Mediopatellar plica classification and patient age, gender, knee category relationship, and the degree of cartilage injury of Medial Femoral Condyle under arthroscopy relationship of age, gender, knee category. Results:A total of 156 knees from 134 individuals were included, including 73 males and61 females.81 left knees, right there were 75 knees. The age range was 7 years to 77 years, the mean age was 41.9 years, and the mean number of hospital days for patients was 6.8 day.A total of 139 knee joints with or without cartilage injury were observed and recorded,The injury probability of medial femoral condyle cartilage with medial patellar plica was 40.87%.Magnetic resonance diagnosis A,B,C,D,there were 34,51,25,and 15 cases of plica, respectively, and the sensitivity and specificity ofmagnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of plica and the accuracy rates were 87.20%,61.29%,and 82.05%,respectivelymagnetic resonance imaging versus arthroscopy, the Kappa consistency test of the diagnostic plica was statistically significant, and the Kappa value was 0.462,and the agreement between the diagnostic results of the two methods was in fair agreement. The sensitivity and specificity of classification diagnosis were 17.65% and 92% for type A and 35.29%,80%;type C :64%,72.52%;type D: 46.67%,95.04%.The diagnostic accuracy of classification was 42.13%.Kappa agreement test between magnetic resonance and arthroscopic tow methods for the diagnosis of plica classification p < 0.05,Kappa value was 0.269,demonstrating that the two methods had poor consistency in the diagnosis of plica subtype results.MRI and arthroscopic data of 129 cases of knee joint were recorded, and the plica classification and joint under magnetic resonance imaging the degree of cartilage injury in the Medial Femoral Condyle was positively and weakly correlated(p<0.05,r=0.179),there was a positive very weak correlation between the arthroscopic plica classification and the degree of arthroscopic medial femoral condyle cartilage injury(p<0.05,r=0.192).Through analysis,it was found that Mediopatellar plica classification with patient age, gender, and knee category was no significant difference in the correlation(p > 0.05);the degree of arthroscopic medial condyle cartilage injury and patient age was correlated(p < 0.05),as you get older, the degree of cartilage injury in the medial femoral condyle tended to be more severe degree, the degree of arthroscopic medial condyle cartilage injury was no significant difference with patient gender or knee category(p > 0.05).Conclusions:MRI can be used as an imaging examination for the diagnosis of medial patellar plica and its classification, but the accuracy of diagnosis of plica subtypes is low.The classification of medial patellar plica under MRI has a certain predictive value for the degree of injury of medial femoral condyle cartilage under arthroscopy, and suggests that C and D plica are more likely to cause injury of medial condyle cartilage. The injury degree of the medial femoral condyle cartilage is correlated with the age of the patient. The older the patient is,the more severe the injury degree of the cartilage may be.
