Objective:To explore the safety and effectiveness of carotid endarterectomy and carotid artery stenting in the treatment of carotid artery stenosis,as well as the difference in clinical efficacy. Methods:Collected the clinical data of patients with carotid artery stenosis diagnosed in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from January 2017 to June 2020,with indications for surgery and undergoing CEA or CAS,and retrospectively analyzed the clinical data. The clinical data includes general information: the patient’s gender, age, underlying disease, past medical history, surgical history;preoperative data: m RS score at admission, clinical symptoms, diseased blood vessel location and degree of stenosis;postoperative data: operation duration, length of hospitalization and hospitalization expenses, perioperative complications and follow-up information. Results:The study included 34 cases in the CEA group and 91 cases in the CAS group. There was no statistical difference in general information and preoperative data between the two groups of patients(P>0.05);the two groups of patients had major adverse events in the perioperative period(2.9% vs 1.1%,P>0.05)and surgery-related complications(17.6% vs 16.5%,P>0.05),there was no statistical difference;the follow-up results at 6 months after the operation showed that the two groups of patients had no statistical differences in the incidence of primary endpoint events, the incidence of restenosis, and postoperative re-intervention(P>0.05);there were significant statistical differences in hospitalization time, hospitalization costs and operation duration(P<0.01);the m RS scores of the two groups of patients at the time of admission were statistically different from the m RS scores at 6 months after surgery(P<0.05).Conclusion:The safety and effectiveness of CEA and CAS in the treatment of carotid artery stenosis are basically the same;both CEA and CAS can effectively improve the independent living ability of patients with carotid artery stenosis;in terms of operation time and hospitalization time,CEA is longer than CAS,and in terms of hospitalization costs,CAS is higher than CEA.
