Objective: By collecting the data of plantar pressure and balance characteristics of normal population, patients with unilateral knee osteoarthritis(KOA)undergoing total knee arthroplasty(TKA)and 6 months after operation, objectively describe the plantar pressure and balance characteristics of normal population and patients with unilateral KOA,clarify the differences in plantar pressure and balance characteristics of patients with unilateral KOA and analyze the improvement of gait in patients with KOA by TKA.Methods: A total of 30 patients with unilateral KOA who received TKA in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology(Joints · Foot and Ankle Group)of Southwest Medical University Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from September 2018 to June 2020 were selected as the study subjects, and 30 normal subjects at the same time were randomly selected as the blank control group.Win-track gait analysis system produced by Medicapteurs,France was used to collect plantar pressure and balance characteristics data before surgery and 6 months after surgery in the normal group and TKA group, respectively, and the contact area, maximum pressure, mean pressure, balance proportion, stability during static standing of both feet and support time during walking were used as the main data for statistical analysis. Results: None of the 30 patients had postoperative complications and all completed the test, with a follow-up rate of 100%.There was no significant difference in age and BMI distribution between the experimental group and the control group(P > 0.05).The HSS score increased significantly 6 months after TKA(P < 0.05).The results of gait parameter scores showed that the contact area, maximum pressure, mean pressure, balance proportion and stability during static standing and the support time during walking were reduced in the TKA group compared with the normal group before surgery, with significant differences(P1 < 0.001);the contact area, maximum pressure, mean pressure, balance proportion and stability during static standing at 6 months after TKA were significantly different from those before walking(P2 < 0.001);there was no significant difference in each parameter at 6 months after TKA compared with the normal group(P3 > 0.05).Conclusion: 1.Six months after TKA,the patient’s knee pain was significantly improved, and the function was well recovered.2.The contact area, maximum pressure, mean pressure, balance ratio and stability during static standing at 6months after operation were significantly improved compared with those during walking, indicating that TKA had a good improvement effect on the gait of KOA patients;there was no significant difference in each parameter at 6months after operation compared with normal subjects, indicating that the improvement was significant after TKA,and the gait basically returned to normal.
