| Objective By quantitative computed tomography(QCT)measured the bone mineral density(BMD)of the middle maximum inscribed circle for the standard,,to explore the influence of different region of Interest(ROI)selection of QCT and gemstone spectral CT on the measurement of bone mineral density.Method The bone mineral density of L2 and L3 vertebral bodies were measured by QCT scanning and GSI scanning in 81 patients.The ROIs of QCT and GSI were placed in the maximum inscribe circle of upper layer(MICU)and the maximum inscribe circle of middle layer(MICM),respectively.The ROIs of GSI were placed in the right、middle and left parts of the upper layer、middle layer and lower layer of vertebra,respectively.Variance analysis method was used to evaluate BMD differences in ROI of different vertebral bodies.Pearson correlation analysis was used to evaluate the correlation between BMD measured by different GSI methods and/or BMD measured by QCT.P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results The BMD of the three regions of interest(UR,UM and UL)from right to left in L2 upper layer measured by GSI are as follows:110.86±48.97,109.30±52.16,110.97±50.05.The BMD of the three regions of interest(MR、MM and ML)from right to left in L2 middle layer measured by GSI are as follows:119.86±47.82,114.05±52.16,119.44±48.55.The BMD of the three regions of interest(DR、DM and DL)from right to left in L2 lower layer measured by GSI are as follows:134.80±52.54,113.17±57.76,132.18±54.05.The BMD of the three regions of interest(UR,UM and UL)from right to left in L3 upper layer measured by GSI are as follows:109.57±49.56,107.42±53.57,110.28±49.72.The BMD of the three regions of interest(MR、MM and ML)from right to left in L3 middle layer measured by GSI are as follows:117.82±47.86,110.75±51.58,134.18±53.89.The BMD of the three regions of interest(DR、DM and DL)from right to left in L3 lower layer measured by GSI are as follows:112.98±59.22,131.18±55.27,119.16±59.63.The BMD of the maximum inscribed circle of L2 upper and middle layer measured by GSI are as follows:115.22±54.34,120.29±55.74.The BMD of the maximum inscribed circle of L3 upper and middle layer measured by GSI are as follows:112.12±54.11,115.10±55.00.The BMD of the maximum inscribed circle of L2 upper and middle layer measured by QCT are as follows:122.11±55.26,122.00±59.01.The BMD of the maximum inscribed circle of L3 upper and middle layer measured by QCT are as follows:117.11±55.57,119.16±59.63.When the ROI area was 15 mm × 10 mm,the BMD of three ROI(MR,MM,ML)in the middle layer measured by GSI was close to that of QCT,and the BMD of middle ROI(UM、MM、DM)was less than that of left and right ROI(UR、UL、MR、ML、UR、UL)in the same layer.The BMD of the lower layer of each vertebral body was the highest.When maximum inscribed circle of upper and middle layers were selected as the ROI by GSI,the BMD of MICM is closer to that of QCT than that of MICU.When the upper layer of vertebral body was selected as the ROI,the BMD correlations of L2 and L3 were between 0.933~0.983、0.951~0.988,respectively.As the highest correlation,MICU’s correlations were 0.983 for L2 and 0.998 for L3,respectively.When the middle layer of vertebral body was selected as the ROI,the BMD correlation of L2 and L3 were between 0.938~0.990、0.936~0.990,respectively.As the highest correlation,MICM’s correlations were 0.990 for L2 and0.990 for L3,respectively.When maximum inscribed circle of upper and middle layers were selected as the ROI,there was no statistical difference between the measurement results by QCT and GSI,and both of them had a high correlation.Conclusion Maximum inscribed circle of upper and middle layers as the ROI are suitable for measuring BMD by QCT.When maximum inscribed circle of upper and middle layers were selected as the ROI by GSI,the BMD has the highest correlation with QCT. |
