| Objective: Diabetic patients, diagnosed with intertrochanteric fractures, were treated by Tao Hong Si Wu Decoction combined with operation in the affiliated hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from November 2018 to October 2019.By following these cases and analyzing the medical effect of them,it can provide a gist for the treatment by integrating traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine. And the consequence may further guide the medical work. Methods: Of the 60 elderly patients with diabetic intertrochanteric fractures were divided into two groups randomly. All patients were admitted to the hospital to exclude surgical contraindications.PFNA surgery was performed when the preoperative blood glucose level met the surgical standards. The control group only had the original hypoglycemic plan. But in the test group,Tao Hong Si Wu Decoction was prescribed from admission to the time of 1 month after surgery. The blood glucose-related indicators, the number of days before surgery, the length of surgery, hospitalization days, standing time of weight-bearing after surgery, fracture healing time, the rate of postoperative complications, and Harris score after surgery were observed and compared in the two groups of patients. Results: There were no statistical differences between two groups in terms of age, gender, hip distribution, duration of diabetes, and combined medical conditions. And there were no significant differences in the length of surgery or postoperative complications. However, the test group was superior to the control group in terms of blood glucose-related indicators, the number of days before surgery, hospitalization days, the weight-bearing time, and the time to fracture healing, and it was statistically significant. In addition, the Harris score in the test group was better than that in the control group in the first two months after operation, but it was not statistically different in the third month after operation. Conclusion: Tao Hong Si Wu Decoction combined with operation for the treating of intertrochanteric fractures in elderly diabetic patients has considerable curative effects, which not only makes the blood glucose more stable, but also facilitates fracture healing and accelerates the rehabilitation. Most importantly,it can provide a new way of thinking for our medical parctice. |
